Teachers across the Tampa Bay area are invited to enter the McDonald's 'Classroom FUNds' contest. Four $1,000 prizes are on the line.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay area teachers hoping to kick off the new school year with extra cash in their classroom budgets may find themselves loving a contest recently kicked off by McDonald’s restaurants in the region. The contest offers four lucky teachers $1,000 each to purchase supplies.

“We are very excited to host this Classroom FUNds contest for the fourth year as a way to highlight our extraordinary teachers and the impact they make on children’s education,” said Jose Hernandez, a Tampa Bay area McDonald’s owner/operator. “We understand sometimes educators might invest their own dollars for school supplies for the programs they believe in. This contest is a way to help support classrooms with the funds they need, as well as recognize the significant work these exceptional teachers do every day in our schools.”

To be considered for one of the four $1,000 prizes, teachers must submit a video, letter, art project or other creative to explain how they are making an “educational impact” on their students. They must also highlight how the money would be used to help in the classroom. Submissions can be emailed to McDContest@FKQ.com. They must be received by Sept. 22 to be considered for the prizes.

Once the contest closes, a panel of judges will review the submissions. Winners will be selected “based on their creativity and how the teacher is making a difference in the classroom,” McDonald’s officials said.
