Ørsted is catalysing an Australian industry across the renewable energy sector, creating jobs, investing in communities, and delivering tangible action to create a world that runs entirely on green energy.
With over three decades of experience in offshore wind, we’re ready to support Australia in meeting its renewable energy goals and reaping the many benefits of the green transition. All over the world, the clean energy revolution is sparking growth and economic recovery. We want to support Australia’s journey towards net-zero by 2050 and deliver on the promise of a more reliable, sustainable, and clean future.
Our commitment to Australia
Australia is a make-or-break region for climate change. The nation has already experienced the impacts of climate change firsthand, ravaged by higher temperatures, extreme drought, fires and floods.
We believe that more can be done to curb the consequences of climate change – and renewable energy holds the key.
From day one, we’re committed to creating and nurturing local jobs, establishing local supply chains and developing a pipeline of large-scale projects. As always, we’re not afraid to explore new technologies and innovations if it means we can make a positive contribution to both climate and nature.
Global experience, local expertise
Ørsted plays an important role in the global energy industry. Our large-scale offshore and onshore wind farms, solar farms, and energy storage facilities do more than mitigate climate change. They’re also making our energy infrastructure stronger and more robust. And they’re growing the national economy.
Globally, we’re the leader in offshore wind, with 1 in every 4 offshore wind turbines installed by Ørsted. We’ve currently built enough offshore wind to power 15 million people. By 2030, our ambition is to power 55 million people.
Here in Australia, we’re well-poised to help unlock our nation’s potential for generating reliable homegrown renewable energy.
We always place a strong focus on economic and regional development, and we are in dialogue with government and local communities, including traditional owners, to bring offshore wind power that delivers to the needs of everyone in Australia.
Leading the global renewables revolution
Since building the world’s first offshore wind farm in Denmark in 1991, we’ve gained unrivalled experience and know-how, defining the industry as it exists today.
We have a growing portfolio of onshore wind farms, solar farms, and energy storage facilities. Today, we’re also pioneering the renewable technologies of tomorrow, such as green hydrogen.
Wherever we work, from communities in the Asia-Pacific to countries around the world, we’re committed to making the growth of clean energy something truly sustainable. We were the first energy company to fully transition from fossil fuels to clean energy, and we’ll be the first to reach net-zero carbon emissions.
Our solutions make it possible to realise our vision: to create a world that runs entirely on green energy.
