💡 What is a dock light? And why would you use one?💡 Watch this video to understand why your facility could need and be safer with a dock light. What is often referred to as a dock #light is typically a light that is mounted at your truck dock and is positioned to shine into the rear of the truck/container when loading and unloading. They are designed to make #loading and #unloading safer, quicker, and more #efficient for the operator. They range from fixed lights mounted to bollards or the post that the dock control is on through to fully flexible units that can be adjusted for #optimum lighting in the rear of the truck. One of the #hazards of dock lights is that often a very bright light is mounted shining into the truck, and when the forklift/MHE #operators are reversing out of the truck, they can get blinded. This can lead to equipment damage or collision with another person in the dock area, causing harm or fatality! Because of this, many logistic companies are leaning towards lights with motion sensing technology that dims the light when the unit detects the equipment reversing out of the truck, minimising that risk. Whether you have an existing dock or are currently designing one, this part of the loading sequence is important and easily overlooked, so it is worth taking note of it and discussing this with your team that are out there at the loading dock.
