We are delighted to announce that our #SummerFridays initiative is back for 2024! This year, we’re enhancing our commitment to employee wellbeing by partnering with Sonder, our new provider for safety, medical, and mental health services. Summer Fridays give all Corporate employees the opportunity to end their work week early, logging off at 2:00 PM every Friday. For our Frontline, Contractors, and Casual employees, we offer a Summer Day—an extra paid day off during this period. Taking regular breaks, fostering connections, and achieving a healthy work-life balance are essential for overall engagement and wellbeing. Yesterday, TPG Telecom launched Australia’s newest front in the battle against cyber crooks with the opening of our state-of-the-art Centre of Cyber Excellence (CCoE). This initiative aims to bolster Australia’s cyber resilience and protect customers and Australians from the ever-present threat of cyberattacks. By assembling a crack team of telco engineers, exploit developers, and social engineering experts, we are developing one of the most advanced cyber testing centres in the nation. The CCoE is not just about TPG Telecom and its ongoing work to protect its customers. It’s a collaboration of industry experts, equipment manufacturers, and the best and brightest minds in academia, all working together to detect and address vulnerabilities in telecommunications equipment before cybercriminals can exploit them. “Establishing a dedicated Cyber Centre of Excellence will help us to better understand and stay ahead of the latest exploits and tools used by nation states and cybercriminals in their relentless attempts to disrupt and deny Australians' vital communications or to steal Australians' personal information,” said TPG Telecom General Manager Technology Security Lee Barney said. As founding partners of the CCoE, UNSW, Tata Consultancy Services, Ericsson, and Nokia will share resources and expertise to identify, fix, and pre-empt potential security exploits and weaknesses in telco equipment and critical national infrastructure. A big thank you to our CTO Giovanni Chiarelli, MP Sally Sitou, First Assistant Secretary Cyber and Infrastructure Security Centre Justine Jones, and Andrew Charlton for opening the new centre. And of course, a huge thank you to Lee Barney, Stuart Peck, and the TPG Telecom cyber security team, whose ongoing efforts help protect Australians and our critical national infrastructure every day. A new era for mobile services competition and consumer choice in rural and regional Australia is upon us, as the ACCC today cleared our game-changing regional network sharing agreement. This innovative agreement will trigger a fundamental reset of competition and choice for mobile services across Australia as TPG Telecom more than doubles its geographic mobile coverage for the benefit of Australians living, working and connecting right across the nation. Our Chief Executive, Iñaki Berroeta, put it best: "Our regional network sharing arrangement will deliver better service and coverage to our five and a half million mobile customers who will gain access to around 600,000 square kilometres of new coverage, more than doubling the size of TPG Telecom’s national mobile network.” “The expansion of our regional mobile network will drive growth in our customer base in regional and metropolitan areas. It will allow us to win and retain customers in the cities who need reliable mobile service when they travel to the bush and customers in the regional areas looking for a different choice of provider.” We are excited about the opportunity to extend the reach of our award-winning mobile services to even more people and businesses, delivering more competition and choice to all Australians. A little while back we celebrated #GlobalAccessibilityAwarenessDay, a day aimed at encouraging greater awareness about the vital importance of digital access and inclusion to the more than one billion people around the world who live with disabilities. We held our first-ever Accessibility Hackathon event at our Barangaroo office, in partnership with our charity partner Guide Dogs Australia. The day was aimed at identifying key accessibility challenges people with low vision or blindness face as they interact with TPG Telecom’s brands, spaces, products and services, and devising targeted, sustainable plans and solutions to address them. This included improving the accessibility of our retail stores and experiences, IT support, hiring processes, websites, security verifications, and marketing materials for our customers, people, and community living with low vision or blindness. Over 40 people across seven teams took part, with Guide Dogs representatives and clients with lived experience working with our teams to provide advice on their proposed solutions throughout the day. The TPG Telecom Foundation is proud to partner with four charities specialising in services and programs to positively impact the lives of people with a disability, including Guide Dogs Australia, MissingSchool , Starlight Children's Foundation Australia and Cerebral Palsy Alliance. Check out the video recap below to find out more! #TPGTelecomFoundation #GuideDogsAustralia #TPGTelecom

We were very proud to co-host an important Cyber Security and Privacy conference with the University of New South Wales UNSW yesterday. The event was opened by Lieutenant General Michelle McGuiness and followed by our very own Chief Technology Officer Giovanni Chiarelli, who both emphasised the critical importance of collaboration between industry, government, and academia to build robust cybersecurity strategies. Lieutenant McGuiness also highlighted the need to encourage more women into security - something TPG Telecom takes very seriously with a security team that is now 35 per cent female. Giovanni highlighted TPG’s commitment to innovation and research, including the creation of an industry-first Cyber Centre of Excellence and partnerships with leading telco partners to enhance security measures. The remainder of the event explored trends in the Cyber Security and research landscape with a range of captivating panels hosted by TPG experts, including Lee Barney and Stuart Peck. Highlights of the event included: - Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC): Chaired by Lee Barney from TPG, this panel delved into the readiness of Critical National Infrastructure for new encryption ciphers. The consensus? Australia’s CNI providers need to accelerate their adoption of new technologies to stay secure. - Weaponisation of AI: Led by Prof. Sanjay Jha, this discussion revealed the alarming rise of AI in cybercrime, with tools like Crime GPT increasing phishing scams by 300% in early 2024. The panel emphasized the dual responsibility of governments to foster next-gen AI while developing robust defensive and offensive capabilities. - Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI): Dr Amit Chaubey from AIBC chaired this session, focusing on the dynamic nature of legislation and regulation. The conversation highlighted Australia’s proactive approach to legislative updates and the importance of balancing compliance with ethical practices. - Lessons from General Data Protection Regulation: Chaired by Kate Carruthers, this panel provided valuable insights into avoiding common mistakes in data privacy regulations, drawing lessons from GDPR. Throughout the day, panellists, speakers, and the audience enjoyed several engaging sessions and presentations, including some from TPG Telecom’s in-house cybersecurity experts. A big thank you to all our guests and speakers for their invaluable contributions! #cybersecurity #ai #innovation #telecommunications
