Our CE Paul Linton has been appointed to a Government Small Business Advisory Group advising Minister Bayly on: ➡️ Challenges facing small business and; ➡️ What business would like Government to be doing to assist The Group is made up of business leaders from across New Zealand – owners of companies, some Economic Development Agencies, Chamber of Commerce and industry association CE’s. Paul returned from the first meeting this week which discussed topics such as compliance challenges, digitisation and AI. Along with our own customer base, we are working with NorthChamber and the Business Associations of Northland collaboratively to gather an aligned message of what is important to small business specifically related to Northland, so Paul can send this message back to Central Government for us all. Our new CE at NorthChamber Leah McKerrow is working with us to support this mahi and together we have set up a very short poll to help us quickly gather your current thoughts. It's super short – you can do it in around 1-2 minutes - and it's mostly 1 or 2 word answers. We invite all our Northland small businesses to take part and help us represent your thoughts to Government. ➡️ Take the poll here: https://lnkd.in/ggCanjGR @northchambernz

🌱 Tuputupu Grow Northland Initiative 🌱 Launched in 2024, Pūtake Whakatupu (Foundation for Growth) is our primary workstream under the Tuputupu Grow Northland Initiative. This transformative project aims to identify, support and develop land use and value-add manufacturing opportunities in Taitokerau Northland. This includes supporting and developing both existing and new land uses, the development of in region value-add primary sector manufacturing, and commercialising new primary sector products and services, along with supporting Iwi and Hapu aspirations for their whenua in a by māori for māori approach. One of the first deliverables is to develop a series of Market Opportunity Reports that assess economic pathways for optimising land use and creating value-added products in the region. 🚜 Landowners - We want to hear from you 🚜 To help us identify which opportunities to prioritise for these reports, we need to build a picture of Northland Primary Industries & Associated Manufacturing. A survey has been launched to enable interested parties to help us build a picture of the current primary industries and associated manufacturing landscape in Northland. We want to hear from landowners, local farmers, growers, and associated manufacturing sectors and would appreciate your feedback. ➡️ Find the survey here: https://lnkd.in/ggpNYiFe

We are a very proud sponsor of the "Jeroen Jongejans Innovate Northland Award" at the Northland Business Excellence Awards. We'd like to congratulate KM2 FinCrime who were the winners of this category at Friday night's awards. 🎙This is what the judges had to say about them: "KM2 have created a product that has the potential to stop a large number of scams if adopted in Aotearoa. The business vision is for New Zealand to become a leader in fraud detection. The intention is to target high risk scams that are estimated to cost between $300m and $2B per annum to individuals, families and banks. The judges were impressed with the research and mahi that has gone into validating and developing this product. They considered this an important system that could reduce harm from scammers to people and families in Aotearoa." Also, a massive well done to the other finalists in this category: ✨ Aligned Movement Pilates & Yoga Studio ✨ His and Hers Events LTD ✨ R-DEV Limited - Software Development & Technical Support A big thank you to the team at North Chamber for all the work they have put in behind the scenes to continue to deliver this celebration of business excellence in Northland. @northchambernz @alignedmovement @hisandhersevents @r.dev.limited

Economic Development Award - Collaboration Category We were delighted that at the recent Economic Development New Zealand Awards, our entry into the "Collaboration" category was awarded a "Highly Commended" recognition against some pretty tough competition. We submitted the award on behalf of Northland Inc, Venture Taranaki, Venture Timaru and Great South, whose regional economies are all underpinned by the primary sector All of us are actively exploring value add opportunities for our primary sectors, to create greater resiliency, higher value output, diversified opportunities and an enduring, low emissions future for their region. The aim of this collaborative initiative is to share insights and learnings into the challenges and opportunities we are all navigating within this sector and the lessons learnt while undertaking programmes/projects. By collaborating and showcasing what is happening within our respective regions, it provides an effective means to harness the collective knowledge of regional economic development professionals and utilise it to address increasingly complex issues within the primary sector. We are very grateful to the Agricultural and Marketing Research and Development Trust (AGMARDT) for the funding support they have provided for this initiative. 📺 Watch the video summary of the project https://lnkd.in/gg4-7jRU

Last week some of our team attended the annual Economic Development New Zealand Conference in Dunedin. The theme of this year's conference was "Tech-led Economic Development: Enhancing Productivity for New Zealand’s Future". There were a huge number of inspiring speakers and case studies presented demonstrating the transformative power of technology in shaping our economy and showing its pivotal role in driving New Zealand's future growth and prosperity. **EDNZ Awards** This year we had three projects selected as finalists in the annual Economic Development Awards. Against some very tough competition we were delighted that two of the projects gained a Highly Commended award recognition. (We'll pop a couple of videos up shortly about these). **Accredited Economic Development Professional** Congratulations also to Piripi Moore our Head of Kaupapa Māori, Enterprise & Innovation who completed his accreditation as an Economic Development Professional this year.
