Based in Marsden Point, Northland, the company has share holdings in a number of business activities in the Greater Marsden Area, including the port operator, Northport Ltd. In 1992 Marsden Maritime Holdings (then Northland Port Corporation (NZ) Ltd) was publicly listed on the New Zealand Stock Exchange. The development of the new cargo terminal at Marsden Point – a 50/50 joint venture with Port of Tauranga saw a new associate company Northport Ltd formed in August 2000.

We have a vision to become an Energy Precinct for New Zealand, underpinning resilience in the energy system, and supporting New Zealand’s decarbonisation.  This morning, we released a plan for just how we might do that, through our Marsden Point Energy Precinct Concept.  This long-term vision outlines the way that Channel could facilitate a range of exciting opportunities, which would utilise our consented 180 hectares of land, and existing facilities.  With potential opportunities such as additional storage for fuel security, future fuels manufacturing and energy security able to be accommodated on out site, we are excited about the future.    Click here to read our presentation https://lnkd.in/g6xGXpKQ

Economic Development Award - Innovation Category The second project we entered in the recent Economic Development New Zealand Awards, which also received a "Highly Commended" recognition, was the Peanut Trials project you may have seen in the news at various stages over the past few years. This project looked to test the commercial viability of growing hi-oleic peanuts in Northland while building local understanding and identifying opportunities for future investment. The project was co-funded by MPI, Northland Inc and Picot Productions, with Plant & Food Research and Manaaki Whenua contributing in-kind services to the project. 📺 Watch the project summary video: https://lnkd.in/gVQFZB5b

🌱 Tuputupu Grow Northland Initiative 🌱 Launched in 2024, Pūtake Whakatupu (Foundation for Growth) is our primary workstream under the Tuputupu Grow Northland Initiative. This transformative project aims to identify, support and develop land use and value-add manufacturing opportunities in Taitokerau Northland. This includes supporting and developing both existing and new land uses, the development of in region value-add primary sector manufacturing, and commercialising new primary sector products and services, along with supporting Iwi and Hapu aspirations for their whenua in a by māori for māori approach. One of the first deliverables is to develop a series of Market Opportunity Reports that assess economic pathways for optimising land use and creating value-added products in the region. 🚜 Landowners - We want to hear from you 🚜 To help us identify which opportunities to prioritise for these reports, we need to build a picture of Northland Primary Industries & Associated Manufacturing. A survey has been launched to enable interested parties to help us build a picture of the current primary industries and associated manufacturing landscape in Northland. We want to hear from landowners, local farmers, growers, and associated manufacturing sectors and would appreciate your feedback. ➡️ Find the survey here: https://lnkd.in/ggpNYiFe

Exciting progress at Marsden Point as we look to deliver on our Energy Precinct plans outlined last week, and support our customers with increased fuel storage in New Zealand. This 37-metre crane that went up last week will help us to deliver our latest fuel storage contract. This is the first time we’ve used this type of crane which will increase productivity, and safety for our team. The crane itself is electrically driven, via the certified renewable electricity being supplied to our Marsden Point site. The crane will be onsite for two-years as we convert more storage for our customers, improving New Zealand’s fuel supply chain resilience.

It was great to hear directly from NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi Chair Simon Bridges at an Institute of Directors in New Zealand event in Auckland last week. Simon discussed the approach NZTA are taking to the #NorthlandCorridor Programme (#NorthlandExpressway) and the accelerated delivery strategy and various funding options. He also highlighted the considerable public interest and support for the programme - you can register to regular email updates here. cc Northpower, Marsden Maritime Holdings Ltd, Channel Infrastructure NZ, Top Energy, Culham Engineering Company Ltd, McKay, Becky Hare https://lnkd.in/gVuBSubQ

We're excited to be starting work on the new Northland Corridor – a 100-kilometre stretch of four-lane expressway from Warkworth to Whangārei, connecting Auckland and Northland. We've already got drillers in the ground in Warkworth doing initial site investigations. The Northland Corridor is part of the Government's Roads of National Significance programme. The new road will address the major resilience and safety issues with the current State Highway 1, and it'll unlock economic growth and productivity by moving people and freight efficiently, quickly, and safely across the region, supporting housing development, and providing more resilience during extreme weather events. As you can see in the map below, we'll be building the road in three sections: Warkworth and Te Hana, Te Hana to Port Marsden Highway, and Port Marsden Highway to Whangārei. We're planning to start building the first section from Warkworth to Te Hana by the end of 2026. It's consented and we're underway purchasing property. The Government has agreed in principle to an accelerated delivery strategy and we’re considering a wide range of funding, financing, and delivery tools to deliver this project quickly and cost effectively. You can keep up to date with our work on the Northland Corridor by signing up to our email newsletter.
