A massive 25 tonnes of kai packed and prepped for Kiwis in need thanks to our volunteers in August! 💪 Last month we were gifted the time and mahi of an awesome volunteer army made up of staff from Sanitarium, Fonterra, Mars, Mars United Commerce, Enviro NZ, Mastercard, Kellanova. On average, each person packed more than 24 boxes of rescued food to be sent to our Food Hubs, a real impact for the community that we hope everyone is proud of! 👏 Thank you to all for your hard work and dedication! We couldn't operate the way we do without our volunteers, and the impact of those past and present continues to be felt by communities throughout NZ! 💚 #volunteering #foodrescue #foodwaste #foodsecurity #csr #communityimpact

Tonight Tui Futi had the privilege of walking on his first BBM candidate at Fonterra. Litatupu (Lita for short) Lita is a hard working individual, who has been on the hunt for ongoing mahi for a while. Lita has been working between jobs and picking up hours wherever she could just to get by. Darren Tahitahi interviewed Lita and made her feel like part of the family! Thank you for all your support Daz! I’m positive she will be an awesome addition to the Fonterra whanau 🙌🏾 Dave Letele

Kia ora tātou Last night Fonterra was awarded the Large Energy User Initiative of the year at the annual Energy Excellence Awards in Auckland for our Waitoa Biomass boiler project. It was quite an honor, and we were humbled to receive this award. Kudos to the other finalists Mataura Valley Milk and Methanex as we acknowledge that it takes many oars in the water for us to make a difference to our collective decarbonisation journey. The project itself makes a significant impact on our journey to a 50% scope 1 &2 emission reduction by 2030, abating 48,000 tons of carbon and equivalent to removing 20,000 cars of the road in Aotearoa. Beyond the obvious environmental benefits this project was significant for its innovative approach to construction of a major capital investment, coming in on time and below budget. The project is also significant given our current energy challenges and helps to improve our resilience to process our shareholders valuable milk as we transition to a renewable future. Special thanks to EECA (Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority) for their sponsorship of this award. #biomass #decarbonisation #sustainabilitymatters https://lnkd.in/gmhBGQAM Ngā mihi nui Chris

We’re excited to share that our Studholme site in South Canterbury is expanding to become a hub for high-value protein ingredients, a key step in our Co-op’s growth. This project will boost our production of advanced proteins used in medical nutrition and high-protein sports products.     The expansion is part of our broader strategy to grow value through innovation allowing us to better meet the rising global demand for high-quality protein ingredients. By enhancing our production capabilities, we’re not only creating new jobs, but also positioning our Co-op as a leader in the rapidly growing global protein market.     Work begins next month, with the first product coming off the line in 2026.

We were delighted to host some of Japan’s future rugby stars who recently visited New Zealand as part of the Game on English programme 🏉 Over two weeks, the ten Japanese high school students learnt English, played rugby with local teams, and battled it out in a whipping cream challenge to make the best cream rosette at our Waitoa UHT manufacturing plant. “Game on English was developed to promote international exchange and co-operation through sport. Over the last ten years, many of the programme’s alumni have gone on to great success in their rugby career and some are now playing in Japan Rugby League One, Japan’s premier rugby competition.” - Bryn Rowdon, General Manager of Corporate Planning at Fonterra Japan.
