Safeguard our Future Campaign Launches today! 🌍 Our efforts to protect the environment and support resilient communities are making a real difference, but Environment Hubs around NZ face large funding cuts, jeopardising our collective impact. Our 21 member hubs across the motu are building a future where communities are equipped to face environmental challenges, where our children live in harmony with nature, and where sustainable living is the norm. For the month of November, we’re raising funds to continue this vital and positive work. We’re asking you to donate, pledge support, or become a partner, and share with all your networks far and wide! 📢 Your support for this campaign will ensure that Environment Hubs Aotearoa can continue to lead the charge in building sustainable, resilient communities across New Zealand. With financial resources, we can continue our efforts to restore nature, combat climate change, and equip future generations with the tools they need to thrive. By supporting this campaign, you are investing in the future of Aotearoa New Zealand. Let’s safeguard the future together! 🌱 https://lnkd.in/g-VWTE7N #safeguardourfuture #environmenthubsaotearoa #donatetoday

We are all for collaboration for positive impact to our communities and te taiao. For the past 3 years, our member hub Sustainability Trust has been supporting Recycle A Device kaupapa collecting laptops to be refurbished in upskilling workshops for rangatahi. “Keeping stuff out of landfill, giving opportunities for our rangatahi to learn skills while also tackling the digital divide gives us a powerful story to engage our community on the behaviour change we can achieve together.” Polly Griffiths, Sustainability Trust Sustainability Manager Check out the case study for this awesome collab https://lnkd.in/gwaSwMmm
At Recycle A Device, we believe wholly in the power of collaboration—and this has never been more important than now, when many non-profits are struggling for funding. Working with other organisations that have a similar mission allows us to all do more with what we have. The Sustainability Trust is a community enterprise delivering innovative social and environmental programmes in Te Upoko o Te Ika a Māui, the Wellington Region. They are also one of our valued donors and partners, working alongside RAD through their Te Aro Zero Waste initiative to minimise e-waste and promote digital equity. We are so appreciative of the way that they have been on board with us since 2021, donating an impressive 321 laptops so far which have been refurbished to upskill rangatahi in our RAD clubs and given to people who need devices so they can access the digital world. Take a look at the link in the comments to find out more about the amazing work that the Sustainability Trust is doing—and how we're pooling resources to maximise their impact.

Exciting news for a greener future: The Caps and Lids Recycling Scheme is paving the way for New Zealand to divert thousands of tonnes of plastic and metal from landfills, thanks to industry collaboration and community support! ♻ The Caps and Lids Recycling Scheme is an industry-funded trial programme operated by The Packaging Forum and designed to ensure as many metal and plastic caps and lids as possible are diverted from landfill, and recycled. This is positive news for our communities and environment, as an estimated 60% of all packaging includes a cap or lid and currently around 16,000 tonnes of plastic and metal lids are used to close and seal products every year in New Zealand. Environment Hubs Aotearoa members EcoMatters Environment Trust, Envirohub BOP, Sustainability Trust, Envirohub Marlborough and Nelson Environment Centre worked closely with The Packaging Forum along with commercial partners to contribute to the terms of the scheme, in support of finding a solution to help Kiwis recycle caps and lids. We support the aspirations of Zero Waste Network Aotearoa to demonstrate that return schemes are community supported, feasible, and workable on a national scale.
