The Cause team was approached to assist in recreating a pivotal storytelling moment, depicting 3,000 British colonial troops marching on Ōrākau Pā for the big screen. This project aimed to authentically portray the overwhelming presence of colonial British forces at the pā, as seen in the historically accurate film, Ka Whawhai Tonu. We digitally brought to life an advancing army, complete with historically accurate uniforms, rifles, and the iconic Armstrong cannons. Our CG, 2D, and FX teams collaborated to layer musket smoke, cannon fire, and positioned troops seamlessly into the landscape, with additional ground integrations, with our final goal of helping to bring this powerful story to the big screen. This project was all about telling a powerful story in the most realistic way possible. Watch the trailer: https://loom.ly/b9WBbZA
