We spread joy in countless ways—by offering high-quality products, exceptional service, and through the remarkable efforts of our team, who support over 35 local animal charities across the motu. As an organization, we strive to bring happiness to pets all over Aotearoa, every single day of the year. But there's one day each year when far too many pets are anything but happy—through no fault of their own, or their pet parents. It’s a night that leaves pet parents cursing their neighbours and their backyard explosions. A night that leads to state-sanctioned injuries and damage to pets, people, and property. Despite the annual complaints and debates, it never seems to get fixed. (And it’s not even just one night, thanks to those who turn it into a week-long excuse for chaos.) Of course, we're talking about November 5th. Guy Fawkes Night is arguably one of the most nonsensical celebrations ever invented—a night commemorating a fanatic who plotted violence and tried to blow up Parliament. Little did Guy Fawkes know, 419 years later, he’d still be causing chaos—this time, distressing hundreds of thousands of pets and animals across Aotearoa. Thanks to the brilliant strategy and creativity of our agency, the INSIDERS Agency, we’ve found a unique way to champion the cause of banning the public sale of fireworks. Last week, our Rangiora team rallied together a food drive for local pet rescue charities. In less than 24 hours, they collected these two boxes of donations! Impressive work, team! 👏

We prioritise team member growth by providing opportunities for career development. Katie started as a sales assistant in one of our stores and has recently graduated from our Bather Brusher Technician Course. We take immense pride in Katie's accomplishments, as well as those of our other team members who progress through various training opportunities.

Last week, we had the privilege of sharing the incredible news with our 30+ charity partners about the funds raised on their behalf. Their responses have been heartwarming and reinforced the power of collaboration for a greater cause and living our purpose.

One of the highlights of working with our suppliers is when they choose to bring their pets along for the ride. Not only does it add a wonderful touch of warmth and joy to our discussions, but it also serves as a reminder of our unique bonds and the purpose we're committed to fulfilling. We hope Chelsea from NZ Retail Equipment Ltd found it a productive catch up today.
