Y25 in the news! The inspiring and super cool Nurse Nat Young (Kai Tahu, Waitaha, Ngāti Mamoe) who is also part of the Y25 2024 shares the story behind PEERS, a peer-to-peer review system they set up, where people can look up healthcare professionals and find safe and accredited people in their area who cater to the queer community. This is a must read! https://lnkd.in/gqTJf7aZ

If you want to feel delighted, hopeful, or happy to see two amazing young wāhine talk about all the important things like equity, decolonization, and celebrating voices from different communities then tune into Eda Tang (journalist & NZ Chinese heritage advocate) and Te Kahukura Boynton (aka @maorimillionaire & tangata whenua kaiarataki) on Breakfast TV - two of the Y25 cohort for 2024. https://lnkd.in/gvjd8pdD

Nga mihi ki te roopu Y25 o 2024!! Introducing the Y25 for 2024. We're excited to share this year's Y25. Each year the Y25 programme brings together and celebrates 25 wāhine and tāhine trailblazers, 25 years and under, doing incredible things for their communities and our shared world. They're raising their voices, challenging the status quo, and fighting for a fairer Aotearoa. Today we celebrate them but it's not just today, we want these trailblazers and changemakers to be celebrated and supported and recognised tomorrow, and always. See the full list and read their bios on the Spinoff here: https://bit.ly/4fMSKTe

The Y25 x Festival for the Future - trailblazers panel! We are so proud of these incredible leaders for sharing their stories on stage at the biggest Youth conference in Aotearoa. They shared with authenticity, grace and true love for their communities. This was facilitated beautifully by our very own Associate Genna Hawkins-Boulton with panellists from our Y25 alum Nina Santos (2021), Cha'nel Kaa-Luke (2022), Veisinia Moli (2023) and Lushomo Thebe (2022). Each brought their magic into the space. Truly manifestations of their ancestor’s wildest dreams and moving like future ancestors themselves. This was also the first panel at the Festival that had a young person from the deaf/turi community featured - trailblazing before our eyes. Huge mihi to our NZSL interpreters Brooke and Tash for their support and Cha’nel for advocating fiercely the importance of accessibility for ALL. Thank you to Inspiring Stories and Devon Murphy for this amazing opportunity!

Moe mai rā: Wednesday Davies. One of the brightest stars, a marine ecologist, lover of life, advocate & protector of te moana, sister, daughter, and Y25 alumni. Tributes are pouring in and our hearts are heavy. The incredible Wednesday lit up any room she was in and we have watched her passionately advocate for our precious oceans and marine life. She had a big heart and her legacy lives on in her published work, her advocacy with tamariki, and all those she came into contact with. Here's our favourite quote from Wednesday, 'By being your true self you can build strong, authentic, and meaningful connections with others, and help create positive changes to the communities you connect with and the environments we exist in.' Kua hinga he totara i te wao nui a Tane. Our thoughts and condolences are with Wednesday's whānau right now. https://lnkd.in/g9jtaCFV

Our Gender At Work Community survey closes in THREE days. Please share with your young people

"I swear every few weeks it's "you youngsters wouldn't get this" and they'll be talking about Fleetwood Mac or a Floppy Disk. I'm 26. It was funny at first but now it's just annoying. We already pick up on the generational differences at work and it just feels like that causes a bigger divide" Yep, I've been digging in the data for Cogo's latest research project with Gender At Work Community at YWCA and getting VERY EXCITED about what young women and gender-diverse folk are telling us about their experiences in New Zealand workplaces – and what change they would like to see. We are finding out what they think about workplace culture and whether they have equitable access to professional development opportunities. We are also learning how included they feel and what they would like their managers to know about how to manage young people. Please, if you're as interested in the results as I am and if you could benefit from knowing how to better manage and support young people in your workplace, PLEASE SHARE THE SURVEY LINK BELOW. All survey responses are completely anonymous and absolutely no workplace details are collected. https://lnkd.in/gEz3nACa Survey closes June 27th, day before Matariki. Please contact me - [email protected] - if you would like any further information or support about how to distribute this survey among your networks.
