Samples were extracted with organic solvents, and quantified using gas chromatography-electron capture detection (GC/ECD). It has been found that results of animal tissue and water are not same however OCs, (mainly ∑DDT and ∑HCH 4,4-DDT, Dieldrin+2,4-DDT, and Methoxychlor were detected in all samples). Heptachlor exo-epoxide were found in fish and Artemia sp. and absent in all shrimp samples. Heptachlor endo-epoxide was detected only in Artemia sp. and average residual concentration of OCs in Artemia sp. was 0.004-0.09 ppm. Methoxychlor was found in the highest quantity in all the samples whether it was fish, shrimp or Artemia. In fish average residual concentration of all (OCs) in individual sample was 0.03 – 0.180 ppm. Bio-accumulation of pesticides in shrimps and fish was found to be with in the permissible limit after four months rearing since none of the detected pesticides seem to exceed their ADI. It has been found that all the pesticides present in water were not found in similar concentration in animal tissue. The maximum quantity and number of pesticide residues was found in brine shrimp, Artemia sp., the fish and shrimp 35-37 however a number of pesticides were found below the detectable limits of the instrument (BLD). The accumulation of pesticides in shrimps and fish was found to be with in the permissible limit according to codex convention 2003.

They are engaged to induce severe toxicities after their penetration in victims. Present study was designed to highlight hydrolytic actions of PLA. in an egg yolk mixture and to encounter their deleterious effects via medicinal plants of Pakistan. PLA2 were found to produce free fatty acids in a dose dependent manner. Venom at concentration of 0.1 mg was found to liberate 26.6 pmoles of fatty acids with a decline in pH1 of 0.2 owing to the presence of PLA2 (133 Unit/mg). When quantity of venom was increased up to 8 mg, it caused to release 133 pmoles of free fatty acids with a decrease in 1.0 pH due to abundance in PLA, (665 Unit/mg). The rest of other doses of venom (0.3-4.0 mg) was found to liberate fatty acids between these two upper and lower limits. Twenty eight medicinal plants (0.1-0.6 mg) were tried to abort PLA, hydrolytic action, however, all were found useful (50-100%) against PLA,. Bauhinia variegate L., Citrus limon (L.). Burm.f. Enicostemnma hyssopifolium (Willd.) Verdoorn, Ocimum sanctum. Psoralea corylifolia L. and Stenolobium stans (L.) D. Don were found excellent in switching off 100% phospholipases A, at their lowest concentration (0.1 mg). Three plants extract were found useful only at lower concentration (0.1 mg), however, their higher doses were seemed to aggravate venom response. Eight medicinal plants failed to neutralize PLA, rather their higher doses were found effective. Standard antidote and rest of other plants extract were able to show maximum of 50% efficiencies. Therefore, it is necessary to identify and isolate bioactive constituent(s) from above cited six medicinal plants to eradicate the problem of snake bite in the future.

The Darcy–Brinkman model is used to develop the governing equations for the flow and heat transfer phenomenon. The annulus injects the time dependent oscillatory velocity normal to its surface. Both the regions of the flow have their own viscosities, and the heat transfer analysis is carried out by retaining viscous dissipation. The governing equations for flow and heat transfer are solved analytically using a perturbation series for solutions in both regions of the annulus. A brief parametric analysis is performed for the velocity and the temperature profiles through graphs.

The study is conducted in the Lahore city which is famous for serial killing of street children in the past. The field based, exploratory type of study uses both qualitative and quantitative methods of the research and weighted from data collected. Observation and a comprehensive interview schedule were used for data collection. Descriptive and inferential statistics techniques were used for data analysis. The results of the research indicate that none fulfillment of basic needs was the main reasons for the street life of the children. It was found that the very fewer street children had knowledge about STDS and child rights. The research also depicts that majority of the street children had future plan, which indicate that they were not satisfied with their current life and wanted to go back to their homes. The research reveals the dir...

Based on the germ recovery and compositional analysis, one best hybrid germ, Pioneer 32-F-10 (P-1), was selected for further analysis and product development. Refined maize germ oil (MGO) from selected hybrid, was analyzed for various physical and chemical characteristics. The MGO was evaluated for cake preparation through blending with normal shortening at different levels. Moreover, defatted maize germ (DMG) meal was subjected to biological and safety evaluation using Sprague Dawley rats. Later, DMG flour was blended with wheat flour in different combinations; evaluated for functional properties, textural analysis (SMS Texture Analyzer) and Farinographic behavior. Flour blends were further...

The people are becoming more conscious about their health and nutrition. Foods that are convenient, with good taste, reasonably priced and superior in quality are in great demand. Rice bran oil (RBO) was applied into baked products such as cookies at various levels i.e. 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% by gradually replacing normal shortening to improve the quality of cookies in term of shelf life due to natural antioxidants present in RBO. Five treatments of RBO and normal shortening (NS) were used to prepare cookies and 45 days storage study was conducted to investigate improvement in shelf life. Statistical analysis regarding chemical characteristics of cookies indicated that both treatments and storage have highly significant effect on moisture content, fat content and NFE content of cookies while ash content and crude fiber showed non- significant change. Storage has also significant effect on protein content of cooki...

Unevenness % (U) and coefficient of variation (CV) in mass of spun yarn were measured. Scanning electron microscopy was carried out to understand the effect of unevenness on physical structure of fibers in the yarn which affect not only the mechanical properties of yarn but also the composites reinforced with them. Results also showed that decrease in 2.15 % of U in the yarn structure causes an increase of 25.18% in ultimate stress and 30.71% decrease in stiffness of composites.

Carnitine, choline and polyamines are conditionally essential compounds due to its specific role ... more Carnitine, choline and polyamines are conditionally essential compounds due to its specific role in the body particularly, lipid transportation across plasma membrane. The compound decreases triglyceride, cholesterol and VLDL. Considering these findings, it appears therefore, that L- carnitine supplementation might help in reduction of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Because, carnitine level ablated in patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. However, regarding processed meat intake, posed association with coronary heart diseases and diabetes mellitus which is attributed to L- carnitine present in meat. The present review evaluates findings of the different studies carried out so far and resolves the confliction about L- carnitine of red meat origin and risk of cardiovascular (CVD) diseases. Red meat could provide other substances to the gut microbes which then activates mTOR1C and suppresses PPAR-α. This effect may be responsible for risk of CVD. It is therefore, imperative to...
