🚀 Exciting News from ReLU! 🚀 The Fall 2024 semester has kicked off, and we’ve got some updates to share! 🌟 Growing Stronger We’re thrilled to announce that ReLU has nearly doubled in size, growing from 18 to 35 members! This semester, our talented new members have already dived into the action, with a productive start including workshops, collaborative work weekends, and kicking off their exciting projects. 🤝 Diverse Industry Partnerships This semester, we’re collaborating with 7 project partners spanning diverse industries, including energy, healthcare, and media. Each project team is working on impactful, real-world challenges, and we can’t wait to introduce you to the teams and their innovative tasks in the coming weeks! 🧠 Learning Together Our members are already sharpening their skills with in-house workshops and lectures, covering everything from machine learning foundations to more advanced topics. 🚀 Exciting News from ReLU & Rystad Energy! We’re thrilled to announce that our team has successfully completed the final report for the Spring 2024 project with Rystad Energy! This semester, we’ve been focusing on harnessing the power of both private and open-source Large Language Models (LLMs) to automate time-consuming tasks. 🤖 Our exploration included cutting-edge models like Llama-2, Llama-3, Gemma and GPT-4, aiming to enhance entity recognition and text summarization. The results? Our fine-tuned models now produce concise summaries containing relevant entities and excel in pinpointing energy-sector specifics from extensive texts. 🔋 Looking forward to another semester with the ReLU x Rystad Energy team as we continue to explore innovative projects at the intersection of AI and energy. 💫 Are you passionate about AI and looking for an opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking projects? Last Thursday marked the final meetup of the semester! We all got a chance to present our projects as well as demonstrate key findings and results. From our panel discussion, we were also able to get feedback from other members, giving us broader perspectives and potential improvements. 🚀 After the presentations, we had a social gathering to celebrate our achievements — what a great way to wrap up the semester!🤝 As we look forward to next semester, we’re excited to welcome more students into our community and encourage anyone interested in AI/ML to apply. 🤖 See you all next semester for more projects, learning, and fun!

🚀As the projects are soon coming to an end, members of ReLU came together this weekend to make sure we deliver projects of the highest quality 🚀 Bringing together everyone allowed each team to draw inspiration from what others had achieved and improve their work. On Saturday we all went out to eat at Olivia. We rounded the weekend off with demos where everyone got to see more in depth what the other teams had achieved.

🎉 On behalf of ReLU, congratulations to our members Henrik and Jakob! 🎉 🏆Hackathon winners Earlier in March, Deloitte organized an engaging hackathon event for students at NTNU in collaboration with BRAIN NTNU. The initiative focused on innovative applications using AI to detect financial crimes. Participants were provided a data set to explore and the competition saw numerous talented teams. On behalf of ReLU, we are very proud to celebrate the achievements of our members, Henrik Raaen Bø and Jakob Kessler who with their teams secured 1st and 3rd place respectively. Their efforts is a testimony to our members’ passion and curiosity for AI. 🤖 We are inspired by their accomplishments and hope this can encourage participation in future competitions and embrace the challenge of pushing the boundaries of AI. 🤖

🚀An update from ReLU🚀 🤖ReLU NTNU has kicked off! We are now a team of 18 machine learning engineers and business developers. 🤖 🔨Projects We have embarked on exciting projects to extract insights from news data, predict salmon appetite, and detect anomalies in energy consumption patterns. The project groups have already built solid baseline models for our partners Rystad Energy, Grieg Seafood and R. Kjeldsberg AS. We are currently tuning open-source large language models using Low-Rank Adaptation, generating time series through Variational Autoencoders, and predicting the future in an interpretable way with Temporal Fusion Transformers. 📚Education The members of ReLU have formed their ML skills through ReLU's in-house lectures and workshops. The content, based on our coursework from University of California, Berkeley and Massachusetts Institute of Technology encompasses the fundamentals of deep learning, Pytorch, transformers, Hugging Face, computer vision, and natural language processing. As an example, Jarl Sondre Sæther held an in-depth lecture and workshop on Seq2Seq modeling with RNNs and Attention this thursday. 🔮What's next? We are planning to scale up ReLU next semester with exciting new projects and partners. We welcome all NTNU students passionate about ML to join us next semester.
