A week ago, the team onboard one of our vessels may have saved the life of a longshoreman. Yes, we know "may have" is a bit vague. But we don't know for sure that the incident would have ended badly if they had not pulled the Stop Card. What happened? Well, during cargo operations, our crew noticed a longshoreman had climbed up on an area where they should not be: between two open cargo holds, past any safety barriers. A few years ago, we implemented Stop Cards - giving our crew the power to stop any operation if they see dangerous situations developing. It does not matter if it means delays. Safety first. The Star Harmonia crew who noticed the longshoreman immediately stopped operations and guided the longshoreman back to a safe spot. Then, they logged and reported the incident to ensure learning. These things happen occasionally. They don't seem very heroic at the moment, but when our seafarers pull the Stop Card, they potentially save lives. As we say: Work with safety to come home safely!

Safety first. It is as simple as that. Seafaring is a high-risk occupation. But that can never be an excuse to relax on safety issues. Instead, it should push us to always strive for safer ships and ways of working. Today is the International Day of the Seafarer. The International Maritime Organization has chosen to focus on safety at sea as the theme for 2024, and we wholeheartedly support this theme. Safety is the most crucial aspect of our work. We won't transport your goods if it means a too high risk for our colleagues at sea. At Grieg Star, we live by the motto, 'Work with safety to come home safely.' This saying, which has been ours for close to ten years, underscores the crucial role of our seafarers in making our industry safer. They are not just employees, but the very heart of our safety efforts. Therefore, our seafarers' safety tips are integral to our work. Their insights and experiences are invaluable in making seafaring safer. Nothing matters more. #SafetyTipsAtSea
