Creating a world where people live in harmony with nature. Together, anything is possible.
Over ons
Nature is our life-support system. That’s why WWF – an independent conservation organization active in nearly 100 countries – is tackling the deepening crisis of nature loss caused by human activities. Our ambition is to set nature on the path to recovery in the coming decade for the benefit of people and wildlife. Working with many others, we must protect and restore natural habitats, stop the mass extinction of wildlife, and make the way we produce and consume sustainable. ============ General information Thank you for joining the WWF LinkedIn community. Citizen scientists help make amazing discoveries! ✨🐍 Thanks to their efforts, new species are being recorded. “The discovery of Begonia kayinensis wouldn’t have been possible without the involvement of citizen scientists”, says Mya Bhone Maw, a PhD student documenting Myanmar’s biodiversity in remote, under-researched areas. 💚 #CitizenScience https://lnkd.in/dYsZXUXu

A groundbreaking IPBES Nexus Assessment reveals actionable solutions to intertwined environmental crises. WWF scientist and lead author on the report, Becky Chaplin-Kramer, says tackling these challenges together is our only path to sustainability: “Recent global conferences on climate change and biodiversity have underscored the urgent need for ambitious action to secure our planet's future. The report reveals the deep interconnections between biodiversity, water, food, health, and climate, demonstrating that tackling these challenges together is our only path to sustainability. The report shows how biodiversity loss and climate change have contributed to water and food insecurity, threatening advances in human health. These impacts disproportionately affect low–and middle–income countries, socioeconomically disadvantaged people in higher-income countries, and Indigenous Peoples. By synthesizing future scenarios and offering actionable, science-based solutions, this report sets a new benchmark for confronting intertwined global crises. Our goal is to empower governments, communities, and businesses to take coordinated and integrated approaches to address these growing risks, delivering just and sustainable outcomes for both people and the planet.” Read the summary here: https://lnkd.in/eH2JK_eQ

🌍 NEWS FROM RIYADH 🇸🇦 — UNCCD COP16 — For a long time, the WWF Global Food & Agriculture Practice team has been mobilizing stakeholders to elevate the importance of grasslands, savannahs and rangelands in global conservation action. Tbe UNCCD COP16 has embraced this agenda and I have never seen these biomes receive so much attention before in a COP. Equally, the collective voice of pastoralists is echoeing everywhere in COP16 around a common agenda to conserve these biomes that, for many, are the source of their livelihoods. My colleague Leonie Meier , who leads WWF’s Global Grasslands and Savannahs Initiative spoke to CNN about this.
