"The oversight board for Facebook’s parent company announced on Wednesday that the anti-Israel slogan 'from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free' is not hate speech or a call for violence." I have to ask, who gave them the right to dictate to Israelis and the Jewish people what constitutes hate speech or a call for violence? This slogan is rooted in rhetoric used by Hamas, a terrorist organization. In case the oversight board needs a reminder, Hamas is responsible for the worst attack on Israel since the Holocaust and is still holding 101 hostages. Imagine if they made such a statement about any other group—there would be global outrage. But when it comes to Israel and the Jewish people, it seems anything goes, even telling us what we should or shouldn’t feel threatened by. "Specifically, Meta said it considered three separate uses of the phrase in Facebook posts and found they “contain contextual signs of solidarity with Palestinians — but no language calling for violence or exclusion.” The board added that the three cases did not “glorify or even refer to Hamas,” the Palestinian terrorist group that rules Gaza and is designated as “dangerous” by Meta." Shame on them! https://lnkd.in/dFS-ji7P

Yesterday, as I was on my way to learn more about the events of October 7th, I looked up while waiting to cross the road and saw a picture of Eden Yerushalmi with the words: "Find me, okay?" It felt like a slap in the face—a harsh reminder of reality. We've become almost "used" to seeing the faces of people who, just 334 days ago, were strangers to us, and now we know them as if they were family. I am so sad knowing that we found her, but it was too late. It was revealed in the last hours that when her body was found her weight was 36kg, 79lb. She was starved for almost 11 months.

Eden Yerushalmi, a beautiful 24-year-old woman—vibrant, energetic, and dancing through life with a big smile on her face. Eden Yerushalmi—frightened, weak, scared, broken, hurt, and extremely disappointed. Eden Yerushalmi was murdered in captivity after having survived almost 11 months of a living nightmare. We sould have saved her. We sould have brought her back alive, allowing her story to continue with new, brighter chapters.

  • Here are five powerful pro-Israel quotes that resonate strongly: 🇮🇱Golda Meir: "We will have peace with the Arabs when they love their children more than they hate us." 🇮🇱David Ben-Gurion: "In Israel, in order to be a realist, you must believe in miracles." 🇮🇱Elie Wiesel: "Jerusalem is above politics. It is a matter for the heart. For me, it is a city of humanity, the city of peace." 🇮🇱Benjamin Netanyahu: "The truth is that if Israel were to put down its arms, there would be no more Israel. If the Arabs were to put down their arms, there would be no more war." 🇮🇱Shimon Peres: "Israel is the home of hope, not only for the people of Israel but for many people in the world These quotes underscore Israel's resilience, hope, and unwavering commitment to peace and security #timetostandupforisrael

I asked ChatGPT about the most common stereotypes about Israel, and these are the top 10 it came up with. Honestly, I was expecting worse—maybe it was being "kind" or just hasn’t caught on to all the things we’re unfairly blamed for: 1. **Israel is a desert with camels everywhere:**     Partially true. We do have a significant desert region and, yes, camels in those areas, but that’s not the whole country. Personally I haven't seen a camel in years. 2. **Everyone in Israel is religious and follows strict Jewish laws:**     Completely false. About 20% of Israelis are religious and observe strict Jewish laws. The rest are either secular or follow certain traditions to varying degrees. 3. **All Israelis are soldiers or aggressive due to compulsory military service:**     Not true. First, not all Israelis serve in the army. Second, most military roles aren’t combat-related, so the stereotype of universal aggression doesn’t hold up. Third, the military service is compulsory only to certain degree. Forth, we are not all aggressive, just like any other nation. 4. **Israel is constantly at war, and it’s unsafe to visit:**     It might feel that way post-October 7th, but before then, Israel wasn’t constantly at war, and despite ongoing terrorism, it was statistically very safe to visit. 5. **Israel is a purely Jewish state with no other religions or ethnicities:**     This is something we’ve been trying to clarify for the past 11 months. Israel has nearly 10 million citizens: 73% Jewish, 21% Arab, and 6% belong to other religions. 6. **Israel is a wealthy, tech-driven society, and all Israelis are affluent:**     I wish that were true! While Israel is known for its high-tech industry, it represents only a small percentage of the population. About a fifth of Israelis live below the poverty line. 7. **Israel is responsible for all the conflict in the Middle East:**     This is too complex to unpack in a tweet, but no, Israel isn’t the source of all the region’s conflicts. The current war may dominate global attention, but it's just one part of a much larger picture. 8. **Israelis are unfriendly or harsh in their demeanor:**     Israelis are known for being direct and straightforward, which some might find abrasive. However, most are incredibly friendly and will go out of their way to help, with many speaking multiple languages. 9. **Tel Aviv is the only modern, cosmopolitan city in Israel:**     Israel is a modern, Western country, and while Tel Aviv is the most central and touristy city, you can find everything you need in any major Israeli city. 10. **Israel was created solely due to guilt over the Holocaust:**     This one requires a separate post to fully address. In short, no—Israel’s creation wasn’t out of guilt. The land has been the Jewish homeland for over 3,000 years. What do you think of these stereotypes? What have you heard about Israel?
