Since November 2023, the Information centre Binnenhof Renovation is the place where you can find out everything about the progress of the renovation of the Binnenhof, the archaeological finds in the Binnenhof and the 800-year history of the complex. Just a stone's throw from the Binnenhof, discover how big and unique this operation is. Six employees of The Hague & Partners welcome visitors here and know all about the history, renovation and future of the Binnenhof. This week Mercy Corps launches their Global Climate: Action campaign in the Netherlands. 🌿 The campaign highlights the urgent need for global cooperation to close the funding gap between climate adaptation and mitigation. Especially in fragile communities hit hardest by climate change. While $100 billion is allocated annually for climate funding, only 20% of this goes toward helping vulnerable areas adapt to climate impacts. Countries facing both conflict and climate risks often receive less than 1% of global funding. Mercy Corps is calling for a fairer distribution of funds to ensure communities around the world are more resilient to climate shocks. They’ll continue to raise awareness on this at international events, including the upcoming COP 29. This event features a walking route through the Museum Quarter, guiding you past unique and sometimes unexpected locations. Through a blend of music, theater, lectures, and Virtual Reality, you’ll discover the lives, work, and times of Huygens, Descartes, and Spinoza- a journey through the city and time to 17th-century The Hague. During Nacht van de Vrijdenkers, the present and past merge, allowing you to view the city through a new lens and uncover the stories hidden within. Nacht van de Vrijdenkers is part of BinnenhofBuiten, which organizes activities during the Binnenhof's renovation under the leadership of The Hague & Partners. The Hague awarded EU Climate Neutral and Smart Cities Label! 🌱 We're proud to announce that #TheHague is the first Dutch city awarded with the 𝗘𝗨 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹. As one of 20 cities newly recognised with the label, The Hague is joining a total of 53 cities across Europe working towards climate neutrality by 2030. 🌍 This label not only acknowledges our city’s ambitious climate plans but also opens doors to important financial resources, including access to the Climate City Capital Hub and a €2 billion lending envelope from the European Investment Bank.
