🚀 After our visit to ESRIN, the European Space Agency - ESA Center for Earth Observation in Frascati last week, our space journey continued in Milan where the 75th edition of the International Astronautical Congress (IAC2024) dedicated to Responsible Space for Sustainability takes place this week. At this global stage, where cutting-edge space innovations, visionary minds and world class leaders come together to shape the future of space industry, the Netherlands shows wat it has to offer in this field. In the Dutch Pavilion NL Space with NSO - Netherlands Space Office and SpaceNed brought together the top notch innovative solutions of the Netherlands parties. But why is space so important? Our daily lives are influenced by what happens in space, much more than we realize. For example thanks to space technology we can: 🧭 Navigate with GPS and Galileo 📺 Broadcast television programmes 💻 Connect to the internet 🌡️ Measure air and water quality 🌿 Support agriculture and farm production 🛰️ Generate weather forecasts and climate data through satellites Space is important to preserve the past, understand the present and shape the future, as we also see in the long term space agenda of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, from space for earth (link in first comment). During the successful network event, which the Dutch consul-general hosted together with the Dutch Space delegation, the Dutch international space partnerships were further strengthened. With as special guest Astronaut André Kuipers, who shared his experiences in space and stressed the importance of teamwork and international cooperation. And in the audience one of the authors (Nadine Duursma) of the book ‘Met mama naar Mars’ a recommendation to inspire girls and boys in space adventures and the knowledge behind it. We imaginatively hand over the baton to our Dutch colleagues in Sidney (Embassy and Consulate-General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Australia) where next year’s edition of IAC will take place.
