We are happy to announce one more project completed: Preparation of Enabling Space Technologies and Building Blocks - Fpga Acceleration for pUsh-Broom sAtellite Imagery (FAUBAI)🌲🛰️ We’ve successfully tackled the challenge of analyzing forest imagery directly on on-board hyperspectral satellites, reducing the need for downlink bandwidth. Achievements: ✅ Adapted and implemented a U-Net model for FPGA-based forest analysis. ✅ Achieved 1.6x real-time performance on PRISMA imagery. ✅ Demonstrator running interactively in Python. Benefits: -Progress towards “instrument always on” operations, maximizing satellite usage. -Advancing near-real-time forest monitoring. 🚀𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗦𝗔 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 𝗖𝘂𝗯𝗲𝗦𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗮𝘆 S[&]T had an amazing experience on August 30th at the ESA Academy CubeSat Summer School Networking Day. It was a fantastic opportunity for our High-Tech Consulting team to engage with talented students and young professionals from all over Europe passionate about space technology. We participated in the Industry Panel discussions to share our knowledge on Downstream and CubeSat Business Applications and the future of space exploration. There was also the chance of networking with other inspiring players in the field. Satellite data alone already provides us with important insights, but have you ever heard of 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻? It’s the practice of integrating data from various satellite sources, including optical imagery, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), infrared (IR), and hyperspectral sensors. This method greatly enhances the ability to gain a deeper and more complete understanding of the Earth’s surface, especially when paired with S[&]T’s advanced visualisation and mapping tools. Greenland's ice is melting at an alarming rate, impacting sea levels worldwide🌍. Supraglacial lakes (SGLs) play a key role in this process, but accurately monitoring their depth and extent remains a challenge, highlighting the need for better methods to observe their extent and depth. In recent years, small satellites have created new possibilities for the space industry. These mini satellites, which range in size from a refrigerator to a shoebox, are significantly smaller than standard ones. Its small size has opened up countless scientific and business opportunities, which is why we are seeing a growing tendency among governments and commercial groups to construct their own SmallSat constellations. However, constructing your own SmallSat constellations is complicated as it needs onboard support for various features.  We have gained substantial knowledge through our active involvement in several ESA In Orbit Demonstration (IOD) programs.
