Our Philips Foundation 2023 Annual Report is live! Today is a very special day for us, as we celebrate our accomplishments together with our committed partners around the globe. In 2023, we unlocked quality medical services for over 28 million people in underserved communities. This publication is more than just an Annual Report. It is also a collection of inspiring stories illustrated by the work of dedicated healthcare practitioners, brave patients, passionate leaders, innovative technologists and creative problem-solvers. I am fascinated by the important work at the Philips Foundation to fight rheumatic heart disease (RHD), a serious heart condition that affects many young people worldwide. In partnership with Heart Healers International and the World Heart Federation, they've launched life-changing programs in Uganda and the Philippines. Using handheld ultrasound devices, they’ve screened over 100,000 children. Building on the success of a program in Uganda, which demonstrated that early penicillin treatment can reduce RHD progression, they're now focused on developing scalable care models and training hundreds of healthcare professionals to ensure sustainable impact. In May, the Consumer Technology Association launched The Human Component, our second original short film series produced by BBC Storyworks. The short films highlight innovative technologies that are improving people’s lives and solving big global challenges. Our first series, Technology’s Golden Age, broke records for viewership, so we were hoping to match that success.   I’m thrilled to share that The Human Component has done even better, with 10x more viewers than our first series! In just the first two months, some 3.8 MILLION people have watched a film in the series, which brings to life stories from a range of companies including CTA members AliveCor, Cisco, @Magic Leap, Orbbec, Panasonic, Philips Foundation, The Starlight Foundation (Nintendo), Verizon, Xandar Kardian Inc. Kardian and Consumer Technology Association Foundation grantee Augmental.   Technology innovation is making our planet more sustainable and bringing people closer to their communities, and we’re so excited to help bring that to life through both this series and as we count down to #CES2025, January 7-10 in Las Vegas.

Zorgprofessionals in Oekraïne hebben dagelijks te maken met de gevolgen van de oorlog. Bij Philips zetten we ons in om hen zo goed mogelijk te ondersteunen. De afgelopen twee jaar hebben Philips en de Philips Foundation samengewerkt met lokale partners en internationale organisaties in Oekraïne. We hebben onder andere essentiële medische apparatuur gedoneerd, waaronder mobiele C-bogen en echografie-apparaten, waarmee duizenden levensreddende operaties mogelijk zijn gemaakt. En door intensieve trainingen voor lokaal medisch personeel dragen we bij aan de duurzame verbetering van de gezondheidszorg in het land. As part of one project, we provided three mobile image-guided therapy systems that are being put to use at the National Rehabilitation Center Unbroken in Lviv, enabling the medical team to treat serious injuries during minimally invasive procedures. With over 20 projects implemented so far, we are committed to supporting Ukraine’s #healthcare infrastructure through collaborative efforts with local and international partners. What will make it possible for everyone to access care, no matter where they live? Collaboration is key to make this reality. Every day we team up with partners to make healthcare more accessible and equitable worldwide. In Brazil, for example, Philips Foundation partnered with SAS Brasil for years to improve healthcare in underserved communities.
