ONE Conference 2024 is almost over, all that is left is the closing keynote of Serhii Demediuk about Ukrianes experiences in cyber threaths. We had great conversations on the Expo, in the ONE Talent Hub and during networking. And of course there where many inspiring sessions. These are the final take-aways from the break-out sessions of today: ➡ The Unpatchables: Vulnerable hosts at municipalities -> The notification mechanism is undermined when systems are not correctly attributed to their respective owners. CERT is dependent on its constitutens to provide effective notification. ➡ Asset management is hard: everyone deals with his problem; its not a fixed problem. -> Foresight analysis: The magic eight ball of intelligenceForesight analysis is not for everyone but you can only discover that by doing it. -> Some of the key benefits of using Structured Analytical Techniques is to externalise your thinking, reduce analytical errors and solving complex problems collaboratively. ➡ Navigating AI Security Risks in Law Enforcement: -> It can be unclear how AI models are trained and if there is a bias. For law enforcement it is extremely important to know that the results are unbiased and real. There is work to do! ➡ Not a Good Day: What really happened to kernel.org -> When being compromised it is not useful to bury the problem. Communication and collaboration is key. The Dutch are awesome to work with! #ONE2024, #CSW2024, #Cybersecurity Nationaal Cyber Security Centrum (NCSC-NL), Ministry of Economic Affairs, Gemeente Den Haag, Cybersecurity Week

The ONE Conference is well underway, and the afternoon sessions have brought several insightful moments. Here are some key highlights from today's discussions: 🔸 War and conflict: The great cyber spill-over panel 🔹 Sandra Joyce: “Somebody needs to do something about this cyber problem, and that somebody has let us down. But we are all that somebody.” 🔸Annual Reports: Security by Obscurity on Steroids 🔹 Call to action: (1) open up and analyse the annual report of your organisation; (2) influence your CISO or board on how we can be more transparent on cybersecurity in annual reports; (3) influence policy makers to put forward more stringent rules on cybersecurity reporting 🔸Threat Landscape on IACS for the Netherlands 🔹 Threats in IACS are increasing. From sabotage, cyber crime, hacktivism and spionage. However impact is mainly financial and operational not on safety. 🔸CISOs Building Defensible Business Cases using AI & CRQ 🔹 Using CRQ (Cyber Risk Qualification) to justify investments and get rid of expansive consultants. 🔸Gamechanger in cybersecurity: RED 3.3 and CRA 🔹 Extra demand is coming for notified bodies. Cyber Security Companies should also consider the economic opportunies of becoming a notified body!” 🔸Back to Basics: Real Life Incident Stories Show Why 🔹 Single biggest piece of advise, surround yourself with good experts. Being hit with a cyber incident can be an emotional experience. Getting good experts on board can help you make informed decisions in times of crisis. 🔸Cyber Powershift 🔹 The key takeaway is expect the unexpected #ONE2024, #Cybersecurity Nationaal Cyber Security Centrum (NCSC-NL), Ministry of Economic Affairs, Gemeente Den Haag

Yesterday was a fantastic day of building new connections and strengthening existing relationships during the networking drinks and 1-on-1 matchmaking sessions. This morning the conference was opened by David van Weel, Minister of Justice and Security. The sessions so far have already brought plenty of insightful discussions and thought-provoking sessions. Here are some highlights from this morning’s programme: 🔸 The tower of Babel: the many languages of risk management and how to navigate them: 👉 Start small with risk management. How do I reach an appropriate level of digitale resilience? It depends, risk management is essential to get there. 🔸 The Cyber Arms Watch Monitor: 👉 Like in the 50's regarding nuclear power, it is also for cyber security necessary to create transparency in the cyber security capabilities. 🔸 War and conflict: The great cyber spill-over panel: 👉 We need to be creative and not be afraid of new things in public private partnerships. Without cooperation with industry and their knowledge of threats, the adversaries will win. 👉 Government participation is important and a key factor. In a time of great conflict in the world, it is important to quickly cooperate and react. We can be (almost) apolitical when it’s about protecting the people. 🔸 Situation awareness through visual communication: 👉 Situation awareness is not about pictures but about insight through reducing the cognitive overload, making things understandable, sparking the motivation to act and enhancing operational efficiency. There are still more interesting sessions lined up this afternoon. Stay tuned for more inspiration! #ONE2024, #Cybersecurity Nationaal Cyber Security Centrum (NCSC-NL), Ministry of Economic Affairs, Gemeente Den Haag

This afternoon’s sessions covered a range of fascinating topics. Here are a few standout statements: 🔸 Vulnarabilities: How to Patch When There is No Patch? ▶ Vulnerability management is a race against time 🔸 Turning backups into gold: Backup Alchemy for OT ▶ Fox-IT and Airbus collaborating on accelerating open source tooling for OT 🔸 Secure software: new guidelines beyond technology ▶ Security by design should be a tool to relieve end-users from the responsibility of managing cybersecurity. We should develop digital technologies not security by design but secure by default. 🔸 NIS2 Directive: the renewed cyber landscape of The Netherlands ▶ The important deadline is the 17th of October, when the NIS2 in effect. ‘Check out the self assessment tool to check whether your organisation is an essential or important entity under NIS2 🔸 10 years of unique collaboration on (cyber)crime: The Joint cyber action Taskforce (J-CAT) ▶ No one Country can fight Cybercrime alone. Cybercrime knows no boundaries, only by working together across all sectors, both domestically and internationally, will we be able to bring those responsible to justice. We’re just halfway through, and there’s so much more in store tomorrow! Don’t forget to explore the 26 exhibitors at the expo, where innovative start-ups are showcasing their collaboration projects and cutting-edge solutions. #ONE22024, #CSW2024, #Cybersecurity Nationaal Cyber Security Centrum (NCSC-NL), Ministry of Economic Affairs, Gemeente Den Haag, Cybersecurity Week
