In a recent VNCI interview, Jorn van der Meer and Marco Waas shared insights into Nobian’s Further Together program, part of our broader Grow Greener Together initiative. This program empowers our employees to support local projects that enhance sustainability, education, and social cohesion. Jorn van der Meer, responsible for Communication and Public Affairs, emphasizes the collaborative spirit of our mission: “Grow Greener Together is the core philosophy behind what we do. We want to grow as a company, but we want to do it sustainably. It’s beautiful to see this slogan resonate internally. It’s in our company’s DNA to seek partnerships.” Marco Waas, Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer, highlights the importance of local engagement: “The direct connection between a company and its surroundings used to be much stronger. By engaging in dialogue, we understand what people think and why they might not feel comfortable with our presence. You must first understand to be understood.” Through Further Together, our employees are actively involved in their communities, from supporting local sports clubs to participating in educational initiatives. This program is not just about financial support but fostering genuine connections and understanding. Our Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer, Marco Waas, recently participated in a roundtable discussion on ESG legislation and its impact on the energy and chemical industries, together with Marinus Tabak of RWE Generation and Dyonne Rietveld of Uniper. At Nobian, we are committed to contributing to sustainable solutions through innovation and technology. Marco’s appointment as Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer in 2023 underscores our dedication to this mission. As Marco pointed out, sustainability is not just a marketing strategy but a core aspect of our technical and innovative efforts. Marco emphasized the critical role of sustainability in our operations: “ESG offers a tremendous opportunity to restore the trust between industry and society that has been eroded over the past decades. Within that framework, CSRD reports create standardization and transparency, and this transparency opens the door to re-engage with society."
