Kwarg for the first time attended the meeting of the European Association of Remote Sensing Companies (EARSC) - EXPANDEO 2024. The EO data coming from publicly available satellites and platforms, like Copernicus program and Sentinels data are changing the game in European market of informed decisions, risk management and sustainable planning 🔥 🚀 One big takeaway? There's a grand untapped potential in compliance monitoring, especially for atmospheric applications such as air quality. While land and water monitoring-focused initiatives are ample, air pollution monitoring applications are fewer despite the new standards for EU air quality are on the horizon 📃 🌍

Kwarg visited BEST Delft event "Green Horizons" at Delft University of Technology to exchange experience with the latest developments in #Earh observation-driven companies and to meet with the students - the next generation of leaders of this industry 🌍🛰 We learned a lot from panel discussions, covering the burning topics of climate change, sustainability and renewable energy. As the CubeSat sector continues to expand, the influence of satellite observations on shaping the industry's future will only strengthen. #kwarglab #space #climate #sustainability

Dear network, Last Saturday, we had the first edition of our Sustainability Conference 'Green Horizons', and what a success it was! We would like to thank everyone who participated, we hope you had an incredible day!! Below, you can read all about what activities we did during the day and who contributed to making this an amazing event 🥳 The morning was filled with interesting workshops and sessions from our partners on the topics of renewable energy 🌱, rising sea level protection 🌊, and space technologies🚀. We would like to thank the following people and companies for their insightful sessions in the morning: Esther Roosenbrand PhD candidate, Yi-En (Ian) Lin and Alberto Poli from Biosphere Solar, Reda Meftahi and Maud van Ees from Survintel, Claire Michaud van der Wal from TNO, Marnix Laanen from Water Insight, and Pavithra Raghunathan from CGI Nederland! After lunch, we engaged during a panel discussion 🎤 on how space technologies and satellite data contribute to combating climate change, facilitated by our one of our own members Renzo Russel. Many thanks to Claire Michaud van der Wal, Reda Meftahi, Pavithra Raghunathan, and Denis Khansa from Telespazio Belgium to join the conversation and give us innovative perspectives from the field 🛰️ The last activity of the schedule was our interactive quiz ❓. Marie-Anne de Gier from GreenTU | Green TU Delft tested our knowledge on the different projects that GreenTU works on at the moment 💚. The second quiz master was Matteo Manieri from Telespazio Belgium who challenged our knowledge on space technologies for decarbonization 🛰️. They gave a price to the participant that had the most correct answers! This event was not possible without our amazing main organiser Alexander de Vet, who worked on the conference for multiple months, together with his core team. The core team consisted out of Matei Chirita (topic responsible), Kudrat Paramjit (Public Relations responsible), and Leon Braszczyński (logistics responsible). Major thanks to you guys!! 💪 Finally, we would like to thank our Local Board; Bogdan Buzatu, Andreas Boghaert, Oscar Kriebel, and Lisabeth Huysentruyt; and all our members for their support during the preparations and execution of the event! As we all know: "Teamwork makes the dream work" 🤜🤛👏 See you all again next year! 🥳🌱

KwargLab visited the StartLife event "Agronautics: Merging Space and Agrifood". Key insights highlighted the importance of leveraging space technologies and satellite data for actionable insights in the food industry. For satellite and #Earth observation (EO) monitoring sector, forging strategic partnerships with agri-food enterprises is coming from our ability to close monitoring gaps, smart forecasting and scaling emerging technologies for the global space market #kwarglab #space #food #agri #innovation

🗨️ When we talk about the future of food, we also look to the distant future, which includes: Going into space. 🚀 How do we survive on a planet like Mars, and can we become self-sufficient there? Can we build a self-sufficient agricultural system? Yesterday, we attended the event: Agronautics. This event merged space and agri-food topics. There were interesting discussions about the future of living on a planet like Mars and how we can grow our own food in such places. But the talks were not limited to just space implications. No. The resulting closed-loop systems to produce food, water, and oxygen from mission wastes can also enhance sustainability on our own planet. We discussed how techniques developed for space missions are now benefiting greenhouse growers by reducing CO2 emissions and enabling smart farming using satellite data. And of course, we tasted real space food! 😋 What an interesting event! Thanks for co-hosting, ESA Technology and OnePlanet Research Center, and to the expert speakers: Skytree, Spacefood, Metalot, Aardvark Sensing BV, SEMiLLA IPStar, B.A.S.E., ReThink Food Challenge, University of Alcalá. #spacefood #space #futureoffood #agriculture
