Our hotline of the month Magnolia is overseeing the creation of Ukraine’s Safer Internet Centre. This initiative will unite NGOs, educators, and media in a shared mission to promote online safety. By raising awareness and fostering digital literacy, the centre will guide young people and families and empower them with knowledge. In our Global CSAM Legislative Overview, several content types—like ‘An adult person appearing to be a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct’ and ‘Sexualised modelling’—are among those considered illegal by the fewest countries assessed. This variation in legality complicates the work of hotlines, which must handle and classify potentially illegal material from different jurisdictions while sharing critical information. In response to rising concerns over crimes against children, NGO Magnolia launched the StopCrime hotline in 2022. This platform, supported by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and the Cyberpolice Department, empowers people to report every kind of violence and abuse against children online. Ukraine was one of the top three countries hosting child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Recognising this, Magnolia joined the INHOPE network in 2023. A month ago, during the annual general meeting in Amsterdam, our hotlines voted to grant the organisation full member status.
