Pharmacy organisations are being encouraged to gauge progression of the pharmacy profession’s place in primary health care (PHC) with a new assessment tool developed by FIP. The federation launched this new resource today on the sixth anniversary of the Declaration of Astana, which was signed at the Global Conference on Primary Health Care in 2018. The FIP PHC self-assessment tool consists of 27 indicators presented in a questionnaire that pharmacy organisations can use to assess PHC status in their nation. On completion of the questionnaire, the organisation receives a PHC progress score and recommendations of FIP PHC-related resources. “We encourage our member organisations to use this tool to assess policy, practice and progress in their countries, so that we can continue to encourage advancement of our profession in this important area. Stronger PHC will underpin and support universal health coverage. Assessing PHC progress is crucial for identifying gaps and addressing unmet needs, both locally and globally, from the perspective of pharmacy,” said FIP CEO Catherine Duggan. ✨ Excited to be speaking at an upcoming FIP digital event on "Sore throat and mouth inflammation: self-care approaches"! Sore throat and mouth inflammation are common conditions, especially during colder months. In this webinar, we will discuss self-care options, including non-prescription medicines and non-pharmacological measures, for symptomatic relief. Pharmacists play a key role in guiding patients towards effective treatments and helping them recognize when medical attention is necessary. By promoting informed decisions and discouraging unnecessary antibiotic use in non-bacterial cases, we aim to empower individuals to better manage these common conditions. Don't miss it!
