We are the network for Europe’s natural site managers. We bring together non-governmental and governmental organisations, and individuals and organisations committed to our vision. Founded in 1989, the network has grown to include members across Europe – from the Atlantic islands to the Black Sea; and from Scandinavia to the Mediterranean.

Despite decades of policies aimed at protecting habitat, Europe's biodiversity has been declining precipitously since the 1960s. Today, EU Member States are trying something new. The EU's Nature Restoration Law is the first to legally bind nations to landscape restoration targets. It is an urgent response to critical conditions on the ground, but will it work?
I Mónica V., Carolina Halevy, and I explore this question through the lens of those being called upon to implement the law in a new piece for the International Land Conservation Network.

Muddy boots, barefoot, or apparently on snow shoes... There are many ways to walk through the bog, it seems! 👟 💦
Last week, we joined our Peat Pals for LIFE project partners on a Twinning visit to Store Mosse National Park in Sweden. 🦌 🇸🇪 For Eurosite, Twinning is a way to share experiences and learn from people doing similar work in different regions and contexts. 🤝
Our partners of Natuurmonumenten and Natuurpunt had a chance to see how a well managed raised bog in Sweden looks like, and took some lessons home to their own restoration areas in the Netherlands and Flanders.💡
Even the researchers from Wageningen University & Research, who will monitor the impact of restoration efforts, could gather some insights from this twinning trip to Store Mosse NP. 🧠
