Today marks the IT Procurement Conference (IT-Beschaffungskonferenz), themed "Releasing the handbrake" held in Bern, Switzerland. This event is a key gathering for discussing the latest trends and overcoming challenges in sustainable public procurement. We are honored to have Circular & Fair ICT (CFIT) Pact represented by Daniel Peter and Stefan Z., thanks to our CFIT participant Federal Office for the Environment FOEN During their session, Daniel Peter will further introduce the revised directive known as "P025," a key standard for the ecological and social procurement of ICT devices. The aim of the P025 directive is to ensure that procurement agencies within its scope impose the highest social and environmental requirements throughout the entire lifecycle of ICT equipment. At Circular & Fair ICT (CFIT) Pact, our mission is straightforward yet ambitious: to make sustainable and fair ICT procurement the new standard. We’ve built our framework around key strategies: Buy Less, Buy Better, Use Better, and Use Longer. Achieving this goal requires collective effort, and we need your insights and experiences to push these boundaries even further. 👨🚀 👩🚀 🚀 If your organization has implemented these strategies—whether successfully or with challenges—your experiences can be valuable to others in the field. Even when things don’t go as planned, understanding what didn’t work is as valuable as knowing what did, offering powerful insights for those navigating similar paths. We are engaging in ongoing discussions about the technical, security, and behavioral challenges of extending the whole lifecycle of ICT products. Sharing your experiences with these issues can help identify solutions that others can apply. 🔎 To support and inspire this ongoing effort, we’re expanding our collection of case studies from various countries, with the goal of growing this knowledge base globally. Circular & Fair ICT (CFIT) Pact 𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 - 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐮𝐬!  Exciting news: last week, a major new procuring organization signed the Pact! And that's not all—more coordinating and procuring organizations are in the pipeline for this summer. (Quite the teaser, we know, consider this a preview of future announcements.) CFIT exists 𝐛𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬. We support these organizations on their sustainable procurement journey by providing guidance and resources. The SPP criteria tool simplifies the procurement process by helping users choose specific criteria that foster sustainable procurement and future readiness. Originally launched in the Netherlands and now available in English, the tool features nearly 900 above-legal standards organized into 6 clusters and 48 product groups, including ICT hardware and mobile devices. 💡 Last Wednesday Johan Rodenhuis and I, together with representatives of the Government of Canada, had the pleasure to discuss the topic of 'Eco-friendly Government IT Practices' during a meeting of the Greening the Government Initiative.
