From linear agriculture to a circular food system: the case of Murcia. This UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme) #UrbanOctober, we're sharing insights from the Circular City Advisory (CCA) pilot programme by The Circular City Centre – C3. As part of the programme, Circle Economy’s experts guided several European cities, including Murcia, through their circular transitions. Murcia joined the programme having already adopted a circular economy strategy and eager to move into action. The city’s focus was on food systems, with discussions centred on projects with the greatest potential to attract investment. The CCA experts introduced project assessment criteria and provided advice on funding and financing, sharing examples from other cities. Now, Murcia is ready to implement its circular economy strategy, aiming to create a resilient, future-proof food system that benefits the entire region. Looking to develop a circular project pipeline? Our CEO Ivonne Bojoh shares insight into her first year as the CEO of Circle Economy https://lnkd.in/g4sYmrzm
CEO at Circle Economy | We enable a data-driven approach to accelerate a just transition to an economic system where the planet and all people can thrive
𝐀𝐬 𝐂𝐄𝐎, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐲𝐞𝐬. As I approach my one-year anniversary as CEO of Circle Economy, I recently reflected on my leadership journey in a Dutch interview with Ebbinge. Transitioning from COO to CEO has been an incredible learning curve, teaching me the power of saying "yes" to bold ideas and transformative initiatives. Over the years, I’ve learned the value of self-reflection. A decade ago, I was more impatient and easily frustrated—traits that don’t really serve well in leadership. Today, I approach things with a calm and thoughtful perspective, empowering those around me and helping them create their own meaningful impact. Embracing the role of inspiration, has been one of the most impactful pieces of advice I’ve received. My dream is simple yet ambitious: to guide 10,000 companies, 1,000 cities, and 100 nations towards sustainability. Rooted in the Sanskrit principle of ahimsa—"do no harm"—this vision guides my decisions and shapes our culture at Circle Economy. Despite the challenges of our linear economy, I remain committed to working toward the shift to circularity, creating a future where waste is obsolete and sustainability is fundamental. Thank you Vera Spaans for this interview and insightful discussion! How Prague is streamlining investment into a circular built environment. This UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme) #UrbanOctober, we're highlighting insights from the Circular City Advisory (CCA) pilot programme by The Circular City Centre – C3. Circle Economy’s experts advised several European cities through various stages of their circular transition as part of this programme. Prague had a circular economy strategy but had yet to develop bankable projects to advance it. During the programme, Prague focused on building a project pipeline for its priority sector: the built environment. Participants, along with circular economy and finance experts, discussed four circular projects and strategies for securing funding. Prague gained valuable insights into best practices and funding opportunities, strengthening its project pipeline and moving towards implementation. Your city can benefit from CCA too! From idea to impact: how Turku, Finland, took its circular economy strategy off the ground. This UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme)'s #UrbanOctober, we're sharing insights from the Circular City Advisory (CCA) pilot programme by The Circular City Centre – C3. As part of the programme, Circle Economy’s experts contributed their expertise in guiding several European cities through their circular transitions. Turku, Finland, used the CCA pilot programme to create a structured pipeline for circular projects in the built environment. Over four workshops, city representatives worked with experts to tackle challenges, assess impact, and explore new project ideas. One of the key projects was the Linnanniemi area, where circular economy and nature-based solutions will help control stormwater. They also discussed nearby areas like the Forum Marinum Centre and explored financing options for these initiatives. Turku now plans to apply this knowledge to other sectors, including food systems and manufacturing. Inspired by Turku’s progress? Join the next phase of CCA.
