ICT has also introduced a paradigm change in information behaviour, introducing efficiency, effectiveness, saving time and cost. There is, therefore, the need for information professionals today to reexamine the information user behaviour to seek information services to ensure that the design and provision of information match the need of the modern information user. This paper examines the role ICTs play in information access and application of information by the user today and what the professional information needs to do to leverage these developments. ICT tools in University libraries is increasing very rapidly in various university libraries. The use of ICT application in University libraries lends itself to more student-centered learning settings and often this creates some tensions for some users. But with the world moving rapidly into digital media and information, the use of ICT application in University libraries is becoming more and more important and this importance will continue to grow and develop in the University libraries.

Electronic information resources increase access and use of information materials which was
immense benefit to librarians in their research work. Librarians are regarded as academics
and are expected to publish like other academic staff, but it seems that librarians record low
research output when compared with lecturers or other academic staff. The aim of this study
is to investigate use of electronic information resources and research output of librarians in
Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. The survey research design was adopted for the research. The
population of the study was 160 librarians from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. A total
enumeration sampling technique was used to include all the 160 librarians that participated in
the study. A self-structured questionnaire was used to collect data. Data collected were
analyzed using descriptive statistics. Findings also revealed that there was high level of
electronic information resources use and the librarians. Librarians published mostly on
hardcopy journals, book chapters, co-authored textbooks and conference/seminar/workshop
papers. The major challenge faced by librarians in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria was lack
of time due to library routine tasks. This study concluded that most librarians in Ahmadu Bello
University, Zaria have access to electronic information resources but they do not maximize
these resources for their research work. Hence this study recommended that librarians’ routine
task should be minimized so that they can have time to embark on research activities using the
electronic information resources.

The instruments were pilot tested to ensure it measures the expected objectives. Data on farmers' demographic profile were analysed descriptively using frequencies and percentages then translated on tables and graphs. While the study objective was analysed quantitatively based on the study design. The study findings revealed that the sources of agricultural information farmers in Bunkure were aware of included agricultural agents at 31%, radio 19%, farmer association 16%, agricultural show 12%, and TV 6%, farmers groups 4%, newspaper 3%, Facebook 3%, agricultural database 2.6%, library 2.4% and internet 2.4%. The study also found that information awareness had significant association with agricultural productivity at 0.05 (1-tailed) (r = 0.278, n =634, p<1268). The study concludes that most of the rice farmers in Bunkure, Kano State, Nigeria are aware of multiple sources of agricultural information and awareness of sources of agricultural information is essential for these rice farmers to improve their production and profitability. Agricultural information literacy of farmers is of paramount importance for the growth and development of the agricultural sector. However, despite the richness of Nigeria in variety of subsistence crops such as maize, corn, beans and sorghum, there have substantially been declined in productivity in recent years leading to frequent famine. This study therefore sought to assess the relationship between farmer information literacy and agricultural productivity among rice farmers in Kura, Kano State, Nigeria-West Africa. The study adopted a descriptive research design and targeted 2,836 households within Kura local government with a sample size of 284 heads of farmers' household. The sample size determination was based on Krejcie and Morgan Sample Size determination table for ±5% precision and 95% confidence levels. The study utilized a structured questionnaire for data collection. The questionnaire was pilot tested to ensure it measures the expected objectives. Data on farmers' demographic profile were analysed descriptively using frequencies and percentages then translated on tables and graphs. While the study objective was analysed quantitatively based on the study design. The study findings revealed that information awareness had significant association with agricultural productivity at 0.05 (1-tailed) (r = 0.278, p<1560), while Information Access depicted a weak significant relationship with Agricultural Productivity at 0.01 (2tailed) (r =.175, p>1560). The study concludes that rice farmers who lack information literacy are more likely to rely on traditional farming practices that may not be as productive or efficient as the literate. They may also struggle to access and use vital agricultural information, limiting their ability to improve their farming practices and increase their productivity. The study thus recommends that rice farmers in Kura, Kano State should be trained and educated on the various sources of agricultural information available to them.
