We recently partnered with the World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO to host an exciting conversation on intellectual property (IP) at the official launch of the WIPO IP Labs and IP for Green Innovation Projects. This event brought together top officials from both the private and government sectors in the IP space to share their insights and expertise. The event featured a panel session, during which industry leaders and experts shared their experiences and discussed the latest trends and challenges in IP. At The Nest, we believe that intellectual property is critical to any business or innovation ecosystem. It's the invisible force field that protects your ideas, whether it's a recipe, music, or innovative solution. Our partnership with WIPO is a testament to our commitment to empowering creatives and innovators with the knowledge and resources they need to succeed. We're excited to continue this conversation and explore ways to promote IP awareness and protection in Nigeria. Stay tuned for more updates from The Nest Innovation Technology Park Ltd! #IntellectualProperty #TheNest #WIPO #CreativityMatters #Innovation #Protection

Addressing Waste Pollution in the Street of Lagos, Nigeria: Data-Driven Insight using Google Sheets for Analysis and Visualization. SEPTEMBER KNOWLEDGE SHOWCASE Bio NAME: Aminat Jumoke Rasheed FELLOW ID: FE/23/1661351 COHORT 2 LEARNING TRACK: Data Analysis and Visualization STATE: Lagos Introduction Learning Data Analysis and Visualization with #3MTT, I analyzed a data set from Google dataset, showing the amount of waste accumulated over the last 8 months and six street in Lagos using Google Sheets to visualize the data table and chart, given insightful solutions on how to solve waste pollution in Lagos State. Streets in Lagos with Major Waste Pollution 1. Ajegunle 2. Mushin 3. Oshodi 4. Agege 5. Ebute Metta 6. Bariga Major Waste Materials: 1. Plastic Waste: Plastic bags, bottles etc. Organic Waste: Major food waste 2. Metal Waste: Metal scraps from cans, appliances, and construction debris. 3. Glass Waste: Broken glass, bottles, and other glass materials. 4. Electronic Waste : Phones, computers, and TVs. 5. Paper/Cardboard: Packaging materials, newspapers, and boxes. 6. Other Waste: Textile waste, rubber etc Major Issues: 1. Inadequate Waste Collection: Insufficient frequency and coverage of waste collection services contribute to littering and illegal dumping. 2. Lack of Segregation and Recycling: Limited segregation of waste at the source and inadequate recycling facilities reduce the efficiency of waste management and increase landfill use. 3. Public Awareness Deficit: Many residents are unaware of proper waste disposal and recycling practices. 4. Weak Enforcement of Regulations: Existing waste management laws and policies are often not effectively enforced or implemented. Proposed Data-Driven Solutions: Lagos State Government should; 1. Improving Public Awareness and Participation: Survey residents about their waste disposal habits and attitudes towards recycling. Design targeted educational campaigns and community engagement initiatives to improve waste separation and recycling rates. 2. Enhancing Recycling Programs: Monitor the types and volumes of materials sent to recycling facilities. Determine which materials are under-recycled and identify barriers to recycling (e.g., lack of facilities, public awareness). Develop targeted recycling programs, increase public awareness campaigns, and establish more accessible recycling points. 3. Optimizing Collection Routes and Schedules: Track waste collection vehicle routes, timings, and fill levels using GPS and IoT sensors. Analyze this data to identify inefficiencies in collection routes and schedules. 4. Leveraging Technology for Smart Waste Management: Implementing smart waste management systems that adjust collection schedules and routes based on real-time data. 5. Monitoring and Evaluation: Goverment should evaluate the effectiveness of waste management strategies and make data-driven adjustments as needed then review regularly. #3MTTLeaening Community #My3MTT 3MTT Nigeria
