How can we build a future when the very foundation - education - is crumbling? 🤔 Today, on the International Day to Protect Education from Attack, we are reminded of the urgent need to safeguard the right of every child to learn in peace. In conflict-affected regions like Northeastern Nigeria and the Middle Belt, violence has disrupted the education of countless young people, jeopardizing their chances for a brighter future. We have a responsibility to ensure the protection of education, because it is the bedrock upon which prosperous, just societies are built. The path forward begins with creating safe environments for learning. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/3Tnp5ql #AttacksOnEducation #ProtectEducation #ChildRights #SocialImpact

⚖️ Still on the bail system in Nigeria... The ongoing debate about Nigeria's bail system highlights a critical challenge in our criminal justice system. On one hand, we have the imperative to protect society and ensure public safety. On the other hand, we must uphold the fundamental principle that a suspect or accused person is presumed innocent until proven guilty. This delicate balance raises important questions: • How can we ensure public safety without compromising individual rights? • What reforms might be needed to make our bail system more equitable and effective? • How can we address the socioeconomic factors that often influence bail decisions? In addressing these challenges, Nsikak Effiong says, "Ambiguities in the law should be clarified through consistent judicial interpretation." This approach could provide much-needed clarity and consistency in bail proceedings. 👉 Read about more solutions here: https://lnkd.in/dw4a7WNA #BailSystem #CriminalJustice #LegalInsights #JudicialReforms

🌍Today, as we commemorate the International Day for Remembering the Slave Trade and its Abolition, it's crucial to acknowledge that the path to true liberation and healing is not solely the responsibility of Black people. As Oge Emodi eloquently states in her article, "allies, particularly non-Black people of colour and white people, have a crucial role to play in supporting the journey to repair." This sentiment resonates deeply, for the legacy of slavery and oppression affects us all, regardless of our background. It is our collective duty to confront this painful history, to listen and learn from the experiences of Black communities, and to actively participate in the work of dismantling systemic racism and fostering true equity and justice. This is not about absolving guilt or taking the spotlight, but rather about assuming genuine responsibility and committing to tangible actions that drive meaningful change. 👉 Read more here: https://bit.ly/3AywjRD #InternationalDayforRememberingtheSlaveTrade #BlackLiberation #JourneysToRepair

#WorldHumanitarianDay 🌍 The current state of the world calls for humanity in its purest and most profound form. From conflicts to environmental hazards, the challenges we face as a global community are daunting.
