Starting a new career in cybersecurity is such an exciting opportunity! With the growing need for skilled professionals to protect our digital world, it feels like a field full of potential. I was hooked on programming for awhile (7-8 months) and it was a very good experience for me. Considering my first degree was in computer science, I’ve always wanted to go into the “tech” world but I didn’t know much about it. It’s an exciting journey for me and I will love to build publicly and share my struggles, achievements and the whole learning process. We had the first class on the 26th of this month, it was more of introduction and I’m already enjoying it. An assignment was given and it’s to be submitted before the next class which is on the 2nd of November. Goodluck to me.🙌🙌🙌🙌 😊😊😊 Hacktales #hacktales #cybersecurity #tech.

Detectives trace footprints to reveal where someone’s been and where they're headed. Online, your digital footprint maps your activities, behaviors, and future actions. Here’s why managing it matters and how you can safeguard what’s most important: YOU. 1. Limit Personal Info Sharing Cybercriminals thrive on careless data exposure. Avoid sharing personal details publicly or through unsolicited messages. The less data you put out there, the safer you’ll be from identity theft and breaches. 2. Search Yourself & Set Alerts Regularly search your name online to see what information is out there. Set up alerts to stay notified of new mentions, and contact site admins to remove anything sensitive or incorrect. 3. Tighten Privacy Settings Social media, email, and browser privacy settings help control your visibility. Opt for restrictive settings to reduce your footprint, but know these may affect certain features. Review privacy policies to understand how your data is used. 4. Be Careful on Social Media Even with tight privacy, be mindful of what you share. Surveys, location tags, or photos can easily spread beyond your control. Think twice before posting, especially if it’s personal. 5. Reduce Your Online Presence Old, unused accounts expand your digital footprint. Regularly delete or deactivate accounts you no longer need. And when shopping online, check out as a guest to avoid unnecessary new accounts. Stay tuned for our upcoming blog post for even more insights on managing your digital footprint. Was this helpful?
