Meet Kator in Lagos, Nigeria who loved eating street food—suya, puff-puff, you name it! But one day, he heard about Typhoid fever, a nasty illness caused by dirty water and food and he decided to outsmart #Typhoid! He started carrying his water bottle everywhere, making sure it was always clean and safe. He also began washing his hands before meals and after using the restroom. And when it came to food, Kator only ate hot, freshly cooked dishes. Guess what? Kator stayed healthy, while others fell sick. He even got the Typhoid vaccine for extra protection. Now, he’s the go-to guy in his neighborhood for staying healthy and avoiding Typhoid! Be like Kator, learn more about #Typhoid on our website, stay safe, and outsmart Typhoid fever! https://lnkd.in/d6V5mrEH #TyphoidAwareness #IDFriday

About us
Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh (DRASA) Health Trust is a public health nonprofit organization working to keep people healthy and safe. From education and outreach programs in low-resource communities to training students and health professionals to developing new policies and guidelines, DRASA works with communities, the government, and local and international partners to improve people’s health across the country. Our goal is to build community health ambassadors and a strong, accessible and resilient health system that provides quality care and is prepared to handle emergencies and save lives. We achieve our mission by hosting and executing health events, conducting training courses, planning for and simulating health emergencies, supporting the government on the development and review of health policies and guidelines, engaging youth and community influencers and helping people practice healthy behaviors every day. Our core model, which is reflected across all that we do, is to build and equip people. We invest in building health ambassadors and champions who work alongside us as we strengthen Nigeria's health system together at every level.

Primary Health Centres are the first resort of citizens to obtain basic care. Our recent training focused on reinforcing the importance of hand hygiene and infection prevention control (IPC) measures, ensuring safer care for all. Together, we're building a healthier community, one clean hand at a time. #HandHygiene #HealthChampions #Healthcare

🚨 Stop the Spread of Drug Resistance in Nigeria 🚨 AMR happens when germs like bacteria and viruses no longer respond to the medicines that should kill them. This means that simple infections could become harder to treat, and one might need stronger, more expensive drugs that could have more side effects. The good news is that we can prevent this by taking simple steps, as highlighted in the flyer below. #AntimicrobialResistance

Did you know that vaccines are little soldiers that stand together to help your body fight diseases and infections? We explored this in an episode of our DRASA Radio Half Hour #DRHH Series, where we shared details about vaccination and its relevance, especially for children. The full episode is on our YouTube channel: https://lnkd.in/dzHnaK7Q.

On August 25, 2024, my team and I visited the Faturoti Community to launch the Antimicrobial Resistance Educational Aids (AMR eduAid) project as part of my commitment to raising awareness about antimicrobial resistance at the local level. We directly engaged with about 80 participants, who showed a 90% increase in #AMR knowledge, according to our pre- and post-evaluation analysis. In addition, medical tests were conducted, screening approximately 60 people for #HIV, #hepatitisB, #malaria, and checking their blood pressure. Overall, the active involvement of the community members during and after the session, along with their overwhelmingly positive feedback, assured us that the knowledge of antimicrobial resistance has successfully been passed on. The community is now encouraged to adopt these practices and lead discussions within their households.
