Halliburton is set to complete drilling four deep-water gas wells in Egypt by the end of November. Two wells in the Burullus field are nearly operational, potentially adding up to 200 million cubic feet of gas per day, while the Raven field wells are expected to be ready mid-month. In line with Egypt’s plan to boost gas output, Halliburton is also employing advanced stimulation techniques in collaboration with foreign partners to enhance production across key fields, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening Egypt’s energy resources. Egypt's president and Eni CEO recently discussed strategies to enhance gas production and Egypt's potential as a gas hub. With domestic gas output declining, Egypt plans to issue a tender for up to 20 LNG cargoes for the first quarter of 2025 to meet rising demand. Eni aims to restore gas output at the Zohr field early next year while committing to decarbonisation efforts. The CEO of Gemcorp Holdings announced that Angola’s Cabinda oil refinery, the nation’s second, is slated to start production by April 2025, with the first fuel supplies reaching the local market in March. The project, 90% owned by Gemcorp and 10% by Sonangol, will refine 30,000 barrels per day of Angolan Cabinda crude, reducing Angola’s dependence on fuel imports as it targets subsidy cuts. Phase two will double capacity and add diesel and jet fuel production. Rising costs pushed phase one investment to around $550 million, with funding for the next phase under review for a decision by mid-2025. Ghana is exploring fuel imports from Nigeria’s Dangote Refinery as a strategy to reduce its high fuel import costs and support economic stability. Speaking at the OTL Africa Downstream Oil Conference, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, Chairman of Ghana's National Petroleum Authority, outlined the potential benefits of sourcing fuel from the refinery’s 650,000 barrels-per-day capacity. This shift from European imports could lower transportation expenses, resulting in reduced fuel prices for Ghana’s domestic market and potentially improving the broader economy.
