Recently we have had an increase of thefts from motor vehicles in the Tattershall area. This is mostly due to vehicles being left insecure. We have seen a few incidents where keyless cars are being entered due to the keys being left too close to the car, please consider faraday pouches! Keep your cars secure, remove all valuables, stay vigilant!

We recently received a report of a youth kicking the front door of vulnerable persons house and running away in the Coningsby area. The suspect has been identified from CCTV and they have been dealt with using anti social behaviour legislation.

We have had numerous reports today (12/01/25) of teenagers playing on frozen lakes in Horncastle. We all know how dangerous this is. Please stay away from icy lakes, do not make decisions that could cost a life!

We are asking for dashcam footage which might help our investigation into a report of a robbery at a garage in Ulceby in the early hours of Saturday 11/01/25. We were called to reports that several masked men had entered Ulceby Cross petrol station shortly after 3;20am before threatening staff and stealing cigarettes. Nobody was hurt during the incident, but staff have been left shaken by the encounter. Officers were immediately deployed to the incident and located a black Luton transit style van with roller shutter doors to the rear, which is believed to have been involved, about a mile south of Burwell in the Louth direction. We are keen to view footage of the van in the time leading up to the incident and after, and we're asking that if you were travelling along the A16 between Ulceby and Louth, or the surrounding roads, between 3:25am and 3:40am, please check your dashcam footage. If you have footage which has captured this van OR any other vehicles on the road at that time, please share it with us. A 43 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, failing to stop, robbery and a court warrant and remains in police custody. It’s been a busy few days on the South of the Wolds division. On Thursday (09/1/25) we stopped a vehicle in the Spilsby area. A knife was found in the vehicle and the driver was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. On Thursday (09/01/25) we attended a road traffic collision in the Tattershall area. The suspected driver of one of the vehicles was arrested for failing to provide a roadside breath test. He then assaulted officers and was further arrested for assaulting an emergency worker and theft of the motor vehicle. On the Friday evening (10/1/25) we attended a report of a disturbance in the Spilsby area involving a male with a hammer. A male was identified and arrested for possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. In the early hours of Saturday (11/01/25) we attended a report of a suspected drink driver in the Tattershall area. The driver was arrested for failing a roadside drugs wipe and for taking a vehicle without consent as it is suspected that the car was stolen from outside the Lincs area.

Why do we stop people for speeding? Well, we have a story for you. It’s pretty mundane… It’s not part of a target operation, enhanced enforcement, or day of action. It’s just an officer, doing his job. It was around 7 o’clock on the 7th January on Roman Bank at Ingoldmells, when PC Key stopped a driver for speeding and having a light out. This is the sort of stop we face criticism for from some. “Go and catch some real criminals” is a phrase we are familiar with. We don’t need any justification for taking action to keep the roads safe, however in this case the driver went on to fail a breath test with a roadside reading of 104ug – three times the legal limit for alcohol. It’s all in a day’s work for PC Key. Drivers causing a potential risk on our roads are not unusual or remarkable, sadly. As a member of the Roads Policing Team, this is PC Key using observation, judgement and the police powers available to him, in order to protect the public. In this case the driver was speeding and three times over the limit. In 2024, speeding, carelessness, recklessness, aggressive driving and drink driving were contributory factors in nearly half of all fatal collision on our roads. This is why we stop people for speeding.
