I felt like I did as an 8yr old at 🎄 when I got the £20 Sekonda digital watch that I asked for. Seeing one of the local residents posting pictures on the local chat forum, I saw this Barn 🦉 swoop past me, I quickly got my 📱out n snapped, hoping I caught it. Then tracked its movement across the river, hurdles a fence, n yesssssss!

In North Shields this week we have started ground investigation works after a report of possible mining related damage to two homes. Due to access issues it was necessary to use a crane to deliver a drilling rig to the back garden of one of the properties so that ground samples can be taken and examined to see if the cause of the damage is due to historical mining in the area. We have also installed monitoring equipment at the properties to provide reassurance to the residents. We would like to thank local residents for their patience and understanding whilst the drilling rig was being delivered. Our gritting crews have been out today from 12. 30pm carrying out a full grit on Priority One Route. There will be two night patrols monitoring the network between 8pm today and 7am (Saturday morning) and gritting where needed. Our footpath routes in the city centre and towns will also be treated from 5am (Saturday morning). Crews have continued to treat Priority 2 Routes, and our hand gritting teams have been out gritting footways around schools in the district. We have been replenishing the grit bins and have also had hand gritting teams in estates such as Holmewood, Buttershaw, West Bowling, East Bowling, Woodside, Canterbury and Bierley. Our hardy gritting crews are again treating priority roads in all areas of North Yorkshire. Road surface temperatures will be well below zero with the risk of hoar and some icy patches. Please take extra care when travelling as gritting doesn't guarantee an ice or snow-free surface. Enough traffic needs to drive over a gritted road to grind the salt in and activate it. Gritting update It's going to be very cold night once again across North Yorkshire so our gritters will be out treating roads across the county. Temperatures will once again fall below zero and there is a yellow warning for ice in eastern and coastal areas. A number of you have asked us in recent days about our gritters and and where we have been treating roads and paths.
