We're up and running at the Stanford Christmas Tree Festival this morning - power is on and the mulled wine has been warmed 😀 The elf is still on the shelf - see if you can find them ! Come and visit us at St Mary's church in stanford till 4pm - a couple of photos from last nights carol singing attached (the power had gone off again at this point!!)

Just one week to go now..... The Stanford Christmas Tree Festival is back - on Sat 7th and Sun 8th from 10am to 4pm both days. We've got carol singing at 4pm on the Saturday as well. Over 25 trees will fill this lovely church and we'll have mulled wine, mince pies and craft activities for the little ones all the way through the weekend. the local schools, nurseries, churches and groups, along with a number of local businesses have made trees - we'll have a vote running throughout for you favourite 'childrens tree' and adult tree. If you want your local one to win - pop in and vote. The local archdeacon, Ven Mark Badger will be judging the 'Bishop's cup' and staying for the carols and this year the proceeds will be shared between the church and Clifton upon Teme Scouts. Thanks also to Louise at @angelgardens for once again supplying the trees for this great event.

The Christmas Tree Festival will soon be here and we'll have St Mary's in Stanford full of beautifully decorated trees. In fact, we'll have more trees than ever before - the first challenge will be seeing whether we can fit them all in ! We're open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday when we'll finish the day with some carol singing at 4pm for an hour. On Sunday, we're open from 10am through to 4pm. This year we're sharing the money we make with the Clifton Scouts for their hut campaign - and they've entered TWO trees as well ! We'd also love you to vote for your favourite tree. We've got trees being decorated by children from eight of the local schools, nurseries and tots groups. Then we've got more coming from the local churches and some of the local business and people. So if you want your favourite to win..... Feel free to pop in and see the trees, entry is free and there'll be mulled wine and mince pies on offer as well. Look forward to seeing you all there !

In North Shields this week we have started ground investigation works after a report of possible mining related damage to two homes. Due to access issues it was necessary to use a crane to deliver a drilling rig to the back garden of one of the properties so that ground samples can be taken and examined to see if the cause of the damage is due to historical mining in the area. We have also installed monitoring equipment at the properties to provide reassurance to the residents. We would like to thank local residents for their patience and understanding whilst the drilling rig was being delivered.
