GRAYSHOTT JAZZ CLUB Update. To those of you who took notice of my recent post on Harry Struthers Hot Stompers gig and joined us on Tuesday of this week, we thank you for venturing out on a cold and miserable night. Hopefully, you enjoyed the gig, which hopefully, whetted your appetite to become regulars at our monthly get togethers. Mike & Helen Deighan, the founders, put on “Special” gigs like the Hot Stompers to entertain us with some fantastic Jazz throughout the year. Mike, a long time and current member of the legendary and iconic Temperance Seven Jazz Band, knows so many exponents of jazz and he cajoles them into bringing their unique brand of this music to Grayshott throughout the year. The next “Special Guests are The Doel Brothers who will be strutting their stuff here at The Social Club, Hill Road, Grayshott on March 11th. Dave Doel, bass player of our resident band, Dixie’s Demons,is bringing his brothers with their unique brand of Bluegrass and Rockabilly Southern States music. A must for you to enjoy this style for the first time. Before that we have two dates for you to put in your diaries to get your feet tapping. These dates feature Grayshott Jazz Clubs resident band, Dixies Demons who perform long standing Jazz classic’s with skill, aplomb and occasional humour. Well worth the effort to make the trip to Grayshott Social Club in Hill Road for a 7.30 start. Tickets are just £7.50 to include a Naffle ticket when you may win prizes as diverse as a bottle of wine to a useful bag of kindling wood !! What more inducement could you possibly need ? January date : 28th. February date: 25th. And then the last Tuesday of each month. Looking forward to seeing you there. Mike Deighan

Latest safety updates near Grayshott

All hospitals across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight are currently seeing a surge in people needing care, as we face one of our busiest winter weeks. Hampshire Hospitals, who run Basingstoke and Winchester hospitals, have declared a critical incident due to the sustained pressures, which allows them to put measures in place to ensure services continue to run as safely as possible. There is currently a high number of unwell people needing hospital care, including with flu and other winter bugs. All NHS organisations across Hampshire and Isle of Wight are working together to ensure local people continue to get the best possible care. We are asking people to play their part by ensuring they are using the most appropriate services for their health needs. Some quick tips to help us help you as effectively as possible: - Get vaccinated, it is not too late to get your free flu or COVID-19 vaccination if you are eligible. - Remember the Emergency Department is for emergencies. - If you need urgent care, but it is not life-threatening, contact 111 first for advice on the best place to go. - Minor injuries or illnesses don’t need the Emergency Department and you’ll often be seen more quickly at a dedicated minor injuries unit or urgent treatment centre. 111 can even book you in if you call them first. - Your local pharmacist can offer you instant advice and treatment for a range of minor illnesses and ailments - The NHS 111 mental health triage team provides mental health support 24/7 - Make use of online resources, like the NHS website, to check symptoms and get advice if you can.
