Jermaine “Huggy” Hopkins, born on 23 August 1973, is an American actor who became famous for his roles in the movies “Lean on Me” and “Juice”.

So how much is Hopkins’ net worth? As of late 2016, based on authoritative sources it is reported to be $10 million acquired from his years as an actor which began in the late ‘80s.

Born in Newark, New Jersey, Hopkins started his acting career at a very young age. When he was only 14 years old, he and his mother went to New York to audition for a new film called “Lean on Me”. The two stood in line for hours and already gave up because of the long line of kids who also want to audition for the role he was applying for too. Fortunately, before they decided to leave, one of the writers of the show saw him and his unique looks and decided to take him straight to the director.

Hopkins was able to book the job and became part of the film along with veteran actor Morgan Freeman, playing the role of Thomas “Sams” Samms, a misguided high school student who was also abusing drugs. His performance in the movie was praised by many critics and fans and led to more acting opportunities for him even as a teen. His first movie not only welcomed him to the world of Hollywood, but also started his net worth.

After the success of “Lean on Me”, Hopkins then starred in a new movie entitled “Juice”. The movie once again made waves with its ensemble of cast with Tupac Shakur, Omar Epps, Samuel L. Jackson, Queen Latifah and Doctor Dre. The movie focuses on the lives of four youths and their day-to-day life in Harlem. Hopkins once again surprised the fans with his performance as Eric “Steel” Thurman.

In 1993, he became part of the film “Strapped” released through HBO and directed by actor Forest Whitaker. In terms of his personal life, Hopkins is married to Renee and together they have three children.
