First Solar Cyclethon 2024: Promoting Engagement & Healthier Lifestyle On sunny Saturday of 24th August 2024, 56 First Solar Malaysia associates cycled 25km around the beautiful Kulim Hi-Tech Park as part of our initiative to promote associate engagement and a healthier lifestyle. The flag-off ceremony was officiated by Mr Azri Phin, the Chairman of KMT People Steering Council (PSC) at 8.30am and the program ended at First Solar compound with lucky draw session. Huge thanks to the organising committee members, Kulim Traffic Police, and Kulim RELA for ensuring a smooth and safe ride. THROWBACK: In the heart of July, First Solar Malaysia hosted its much-awaited Durian Fest 2024, transforming the typical workdays into a spectacular celebration of flavor. The durian fest was held to celebrate the site's strong operation performance in Q2’24. This year, we distributed premium durians - sourced from Balik Pulau, one of Malaysia’s most renowned durian-producing regions, as well as rambutans at the end of the shifts for them to savor the fruits after a productive day at work. On July 19th, we added a small opening ceremony gimmicks for the KLM Management team to crack the fresh durians. Adding an international flair to the fest, our colleagues from Vietnam and the United States joined the celebration. Events like these underscore our commitment to creating a vibrant and cohesive work environment. They serve as a reminder that together, we can enjoy simpler pleasures while celebrating complex successes. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated and contributed to making the First Solar Malaysia Durian Fest 2024 an outstanding success. Congratulations to 102 First Solar Malaysia associates who successfully received their Diploma in Mechatronics from the Institut Kemahiran Tinggi Belia Negara (IKTBN) Bukit Mertajam on 20th August 2024. All graduates were celebrated in a grand convocation ceremony at The Light Hotel, Seberang Jaya, Pulau Pinang. This internal Diploma program was conceived 13 years ago under First Solar Malaysia's Program for Associates' Career Enhancement (PACE). The program aims to ensure our associates are always prepared to face the challenges of technological changes now and in the future by enriching their knowledge and skills. For the past 13 years, First Solar Malaysia has collaborated with various local higher education institutions, including IKTBN Bukit Mertajam, ADTEC Kulim, and UniKL MSI, to provide classes, technical training, and certification to our production floor associates. The ceremony was officiated by Yang Berusaha Puan Zakiah Mat Jali, Deputy Director of Skills, Planning, Development, and Maintenance (PPP) Branch, Ministry of Youth and Sports. Also in attendance were Mr. AR Jeyaganesh Arumugam, Managing Director and Plant Manager of First Solar Malaysia, Mr. KJ Ung, Vice President of Global Series 6 Production Operations, First Solar Inc., Ms. Regina Tan, Head of International HR, and Mr. Muzkhairil bin Muhamad, Deputy Director of Training at IKTBN Bukit Mertajam. On 3rd August 2024, the associates of First Solar Malaysia came together to Pantai Robina, Butterworth, for beach cleaning and tree planting program. This program was coordinated by the KMT People Steering Council (PSC), represented by FS Bikers Club, and KMT Sustainability Ambassadors, with collaboration from Majlis Bandaraya Seberang Perai (MBSB). The team of 50 associates were joined by their family members as well as the MBSP staffs, and we successfully planted 52 coconut trees and picked up the trash around Pantai Robina Recreational Park. Pantai Robina Recreational Park was opened in 2020 as part of Penang's government's initiative to add green spaces in the state for public use as well as to support greener Penang objectives. The organising committee would like to thank all associates, family members, and MBSP who joined us this morning to support this noble cause and we hope that our collective effort will benefit the community. Who would have thought that learning about fire hazard can be so interesting? On 14th May, First Solar Malaysia collaborated with BOMBA Kulim Hi-Tech Park to conduct a talk on fire hazard at home in conjunction with First Solar's Learning Agility Week. The officer did a wonderful job delivering the content on identifying the potential cause of fire hazard, understanding the different types of fire extinguishers, and understanding the proper way to handle minor fire hazard at home. The hightlight of the session was the demonstration session whereby the participants were given the opportunity to conquer their fear of fire and properly apply the steps to extinguish the fires. They were also given the rare chance to don the uniform and even ride the fire truck around First Solar's compound.
