Today, #MyUNDP hosted the online briefing session for the Malaysia Island Waste Innovation Challenge, where questions around the submission process and criteria were answered. It seeks innovative local waste initiatives for any island in Malaysia, with US$40,000 per grant is available for up to five(5) successful applicants. Since achieving independence in 1957, Malaysia has made great strides in reducing poverty, improving healthcare, and expanding digital and educational opportunities. Yet pockets of challenges remain, requiring focused interventions to tackle. In conjunction with Malaysia's 67th Independance, #MyUNDP Resident Representative a.i. As part of our initiative to enhance access to employment with better social protection for people with disabilities (PWD), UNDP, in collaboration with the International Labour Organization through the Yayasan MySDG, held a consultation with Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPD). Aligned with the Leaving No One Behind commitment, the consultation sought to gather valuable insights from PWD representatives to co-create effective approaches for broader community consultations and to validate the Pilot Job Placement design that the project aims to implement in the next phase. It was a fruitful exchange of ideas, and we sincerely appreciate the advice and guidance shared by seasoned leaders from the PWD communities, including the Malaysian Association For The Blind, the National Council for the Blind Malaysia, Persatuan Sindrom Down Malaysia, the Malaysia Confederation of the Disabled, the Association of Women with Disabilities Malaysia, United Voice Malaysia, Majlis Belia OKU Malaysia, and the Mental Illness Awareness and Support Association.
