From recruitment biases to leadership diversity, data illuminates challenges and enables companies to take meaningful action. Transparency in reporting was highlighted as essential for accountability and progress. The session concluded that data is critical to achieving real, lasting change in DEI efforts. 🌟 The Great Debate | What's Next for DEI: Pivot or Progress? 🌟 At the LeadWomen APAC DEI Summit 2024, The Great Debate sparked a compelling discussion about the future of DEI strategies. The lively exchange, expertly moderated by Liza Liew from LeadWomen, challenged leaders to think critically about two approaches: Pivot versus Progress, the session became a true highlight of the summit. Sri Nair (PwC Malaysia), Kishore Ravuri (Dutch Lady Milk Industries Berhad), and Nadia K Ismail (ExxonMobil) argued that DEI strategies must pivot to meet the complex, ever-evolving needs of today's workforce. Their stance centered on adaptability - advocating for agile DEI practices that keep pace with societal shifts, foster continuous learning, and reflect new perspectives. On the other hand, represented by Luqmahani Mustafa Kamal (PETRONAS), Varshaa Ram Kutik (Bank for International Settlements – BIS), and NURUL DIANA INTAN ZAFIRAH, ERM (Cyberview Sdn Bhd), championed a commitment to progress sustainable transformation. They argued for embedding DEI deeply into organisational cultures, focusing on measurable, long-term goals and reinforcing frameworks that have already driven positive change. Both teams agreed on the critical role of leadership in shaping the future of DEI. The takeaway? Tailored strategies, leadership buy-in, and an openness to both pivot and progress are essential. The session concluded with an audience vote, with 57% supporting Team Pivot’s call for agile, adaptive DEI approaches. The discussion revealed that while we may need to pivot strategies, we must also sustain the momentum of our progress to advance DEI at an accelerated pace. What's your take? Should DEI adapt with agility, or is the path forward one of consistent progress? Share your thoughts in the comments! #APACDEISummit2024 #LeadershipForChange #SustainableDEI #FutureOfDEI #LeadWomen
