Happy Malaysia Day to all!! Finally writing something on my newsletter after awhile and here's what I have been busy with recently and finally get to put my thoughts into writing! It's been an interesting few months interacting with different people on this topic and also hearing from different generations views on the stereotypes of each generations. Funny enough the conversations always started with "I always thought that Gen .... would be xxx, and I would say most of the time they are right? But also very wrong on a lot of things. And we always have a laugh at the end of the day 😂 Why is this so? Because we realise we are fundamentally all looking for the same thing but just using different ways to achieve them. I can't write from other people's perspective, but let me share as a Gen Z what I personally feel about the topic.

🚀 𝐀𝐬 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐬 𝐆𝐞𝐧 𝐙 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝… 𝐰𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞… Thank you to NXP Semiconductors and Selangor Human Resource Development Centre (SHRDC) for inviting me onto a panel to share on “Thriving in a Multigenerational Workplace” from a Gen Z perspective It was a insightful discussion together with Dr Eu Poh Leng, Vivek Regeev & Imran Arif Abdul Jamil with Koo Lily moderating the session. I used to be the hot-headed Gen Z trying to change the world but through that way I only faced more resistance, and I was shut down so frequently with people calling me “NAIVE” which in hindsight I really was… Today, I understand change is not instant, and we need to work with the people who have the proper resources and platform to create these changes. Change is not a one-sided thing and as much as we want the previous generations to embrace change, we need to ourselves find a middle ground and convince them to change from their tried and ways! As the next Generation of Gen Alpha coming into the workplace, maybe I will be the outdated and old-fashioned one in the future? Eventually I would need to embrace the change that they bring along to the industry too, but till then I still have a lot to learn from the previous trailblazers! I’ll be sharing more about the discussion in my upcoming newsletter, I realised I haven’t written on it in a while but that’s only because I don’t ChatGPT my newsletters, it’s genuinely from the heart. So stay tuned! Also I have a podcast where I talk to your neighborhood entrepreneurs on the Oddinary Podcast. Check it out below!

𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟗-𝟓, 𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧? 🎙️ I recently sat down with Bob Low, the host of the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Podcast, This is the story of a truly oddinary person who was living the ordinary 9-5 life but decided to make the change and now is reaping the rewards of his persistence. 3 interesting points from the podcast which stood out for me 𝑷𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 👨🏻💻 Bob’s love for marketing started back in his university days, where he didn’t just study the subject—he lived it. He even reached out to marketing icons like Seth Godin and wrote a blog that landed him his first gig in a top global ad agency. Talk about making your passion work for you!  𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 💪🏻 While juggling a demanding corporate job, Bob was hustling 16-hour days—not for his employer, but to sharpen his own skills. He focused on mastering Facebook ads and building a solid client base before he even quit, Bob’s journey is a real life case study in how to prepare for the leap into entrepreneurship.    𝑭𝒐𝒄𝒖𝒔 🚀 Now, Bob is on a mission to shift from agency work to becoming a channel that helps brands grow through his podcast and LinkedIn presence. His podcast is starting to get traction with amazing insights from top business leaders in Asia and is one you definitely have to check out. If you’re curious to hear more about how he did it, check out our latest podcast episode and don’t forget to subscribe so you don’t miss out on more oddinary stories! #Entrepreneurship #Marketing #Podcast #DigitalMarketing #BobLow #OddinaryPodcast #CrouchingTigerHiddenDragon

🚨𝐈 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩! 🚨 I’ll be a panel speaker on Thriving In A Multigenerational Workforce, more details will come after the event. Recently I have been sharing my take on XYZ in the Workplace as well as hearing from different generations of directors and managers and I realized we are not that different, it’s just that we are VERY misunderstood. TLDR, stereotype…. I have very good experiences working with people across different generations, as well as some not-so-pleasant ones… In this panel, I’ll be representing the Gen - Z side of the discussion. Hence, I humbly ask for your help to drop a comment down below if you have an opinion on the two topics below 👇 💡 𝑭𝒐𝒓 𝑮𝒆𝒏-𝒁's, 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒊𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒅/𝒐𝒓 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎 💡 𝑭𝒐𝒓 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒆𝒍𝒔𝒆, 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒊𝒏 𝒂 𝑮𝒆𝒏-𝒁 𝒆𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒐𝒚𝒆𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒘𝒆 𝒅𝒐 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅/𝒐𝒓 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒗𝒆? I really hope we can help push the conversation and better understand how to create a more collaborative workplace! P.S. If you don't want to comment here for PnC purposes, you may drop me a DM! I promise I won't snitch 🤐

𝑺𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒑𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒖𝒊𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒇𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒈𝒐𝒂𝒍𝒔, 𝒘𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒇𝒂𝒓 𝒘𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆... 🗣 We start to complain about things that we could only dream of years ago 𝑵𝒐𝒘 - Why so much work to do? - Why pay so much in taxes? - When can I get time off? 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐨 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 - Where can I find my next client? - I don't get paid enough... - What if this doesn't work out? I have been part of the gig economy ever since I’ve graduated and frankly speaking I only have 3 months of corporate experience. It’s been 3 years since and I have been able to replace my full time income and more from providing virtual assistant as well as digital marketing services. To start freelancing or doing it on the side is pretty simple but to make it sustainable, that is the hard part. Last Saturdays #ConnectCON event by Mereka (check them out, I think they are really doing great things for the gig economy!) really reminded me of how far I have come in my journey and not to take anything for granted. The experts also shared some amazing insights which would have really helped me over the past 3 years! TLDR, my most important unsolicited advice for anyone starting freelancing as a side gig or diving head first would be really to seek a mentor or a community that can provide you with the support from these areas 👨💻 Expertise ⚙ Processes 👥 Network I’m indebted to soo many people who had helped me in my journey, so I’m just doing my part to give back, if you need any help or advice, feel free to connect with me, I’ll try my best to help or connect you with someone who can help 🙌🏻

How do you naviagate policy for your businesss? This episode just came out! This week I sat down with Kian-Ming Ong to discuss how policies affect businesses in Malaysia. ➡️ Understanding Trade Agreements Dr. Ong Kian Ming highlights the significance of trade agreements like the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTTP) for Malaysian businesses. He emphasizes the benefits of reduced tariffs and increased export opportunities, particularly for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). ➡️ Strategic Export Bases Utilizing strategic locations like Mexico, Canada, and Malaysia as export bases can provide advantages due to free trade agreements and lower cost bases. This strategic positioning can facilitate easier access to markets such as the US, Canada, and Europe. ➡️ Government Engagement for Market Entry Kian Ming discusses the importance of engaging with governments for market entry, as exemplified by interaction with the recent visit to Europe by Anwar Ibrahim. Facilitation through agreements and collaboration of agencies can lead to investment and smoother market entry processes. ➡️ Navigating Government Support Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) face challenges in navigating various grants and support mechanisms offered by different ministries and agencies. There's a call for a centralized One-Stop Center to streamline this process and avoid overlaps. ➡️ Utilizing LinkedIn for Networking and Advocacy Kian Ming emphasizes the importance of CEOs, business owners, and government officials utilizing platforms like LinkedIn for networking, advocacy, and showcasing expertise. Building an online presence can facilitate connections with potential clients, investors, and policymakers, enhancing visibility and influence in business and policy spheres. Please support our content by subscribing to the channel, we are looking to hit 5,000 subscribers this year! https://lnkd.in/g-r_Z7Fh #policy #entrepreneurship #business #government

Seriously.... why is this not taught in schools??? I have been a freelancer for the past 5 years and honestly the managing my personal finances has not been easy, especially during the earlier years when I was still struggling to get clients.... not only that I had to learn the hard money lessons as I go... Money Lessons: 😩If a problem can be solved by money, it's not really a problem 💸You will definitely spend more as you earn more, keep track! ⚙Creating a system is essential, you will NOT have the same discipline when it comes to money 📝 But now as things are more stable and I look to turn my freelancing into a business. Here's a short sharing on how I manage my finances as a freelancer and maybe if you are a young professional, budding freelancer, or if you are contemplating becoming a freelancer you could have a glimpse into how I manage my finances. (It's honestly it's not that different) 🔔 If you have learned something from this, drop a like! 💬 If there is something I can improve on, drop a comment! #freelance #personalfinance #finance #finances #learning
