Flying was one of man’s oldest desires, whose beginning is lost in history. The predecessors of the motorless flight made the first motorless flying machines and through their attempts and work, they tried to take to the sky, thus setting the scientific basis of aviation. In Romania, we can talk about a true aeronautic school. The first documentary certifications concerning the flight with machines heavier than the air go back to 1701. The gliding movement became popular in our country after the 1st World War, together with the creation of more motorless flight school. This is the case of the school of Iasi, set up for the first time in 1937 and reopened in 1942, based in Cucuteni (Leţcani). The hills surrounding the village of Cucuteni were suited for this school, new sheds and huts were built in the area. Because of the war, the flight school of Cucuteni was interrupted and reopened in 1948, this time in a new location. The documents belonging to the museum’s heritage and donated by Eng. Ion Dumbravă represent important testimonies concerning the history of the flight school in Iaşi.

The town had suffered a lot because of the lack of water (fi res, epidemics, etc.). We use the phrase already known because creation of the water supply of Iasi with the help of many people (mayors, vice mayors, intellectuals) was indeed a story of improving the townsfolk living. They have also shaped the aesthetic and cultural image of the city. Thanks to their contribution, this chapter of the history of the town is really memorable.

Behind men familiar with archaeology, dedicated to discover and study of artifacts, sometimes pioneer women were present too. They were motivated by passion, courage and a good knowledge in the field. Women approached with tenacity the miraculous universe of material historic traces of human civilization. Being bold, determinated, eager to travel and with a strong spirit of adventure, ladies of early archaeology crossed foreign and far away countries, digging and exploring for finding material evidence that could recreate the past of lost civilizations.
Through their work and mission, women's impressive life stories marked and developed this field, invalidating prejudices.
