Celly Ru

Rapper Celly Ru, a longtime affiliate of fellow Sacramento artist Mozzy, spins tales of gangster life with a steely delivery over icy production. • The name Celly Ru is a combination of the rapper’s real name, Marcel, and the Piru street gang, also referenced on his 2020 album P.I.R.U. (Pimp Inna Red Uniform). The name was given to him by his late friend Marcus, the subject of Celly’s somber 2018 single “Dear Marcus.” • He started rapping around five years old, playing around on a karaoke machine under the influence of his uncle and cousin. • In addition to releasing a constant stream of solo projects, Celly has put out collaborative tapes with June, Skar, Don Tre, and Uzzy Marcus.
