About BabyFace Gunna

Bay area rapper BabyFace Gunna got his start as a protege of Mozzy's, an icon of Sacramento's vibrant rap scene. Moving quickly from collaborative tracks to mixtapes of his own, the young rapper gained attention for his ruthless lyrical style and naturally casual flows on tracks like "30k Bars" or appearances on mixtapes such as 2017's Baggage Claim. Frequently released videos and new songs led to more visibility for BabyFace Gunna, in particularly on single "You Don't Want These Problemz," which was streamed over a million times within months of its release. Coming from the Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento, BabyFace Gunna began working with Mozzy around 2017, making an appearance on the collaborative mixtape Mozzy Records Presents: Baggage Claim. He quickly moved on to releasing his own mixtapes, with Child of Da Trenches and Ham & Chee$e coming out within months of each other in 2017. Frequently joined by other rappers on the Mozzy label, BabyFace Gunna had multiple tracks featuring ShooterGang JoJo, Bussdown Bandy and Celly Ru. He also collaborated on singles with other artists like "Movin' Mean," a 2018 collaboration with SOE Sosa, or "I Be on It" with Young Mir. In the summer of 2018, he offered up the single and video for "All Day" in anticipation of Brothers Upon the Streets, a joint EP released weeks later featuring six songs created by himself and Tona Da Owna. ~ Fred Thomas
