Neil Young's 1978 album was an effective bookend for the introspective country of Harvest—its acoustic charms are distinctly elegiac and, in hindsight, gently nostalgic as well. That sensibility is openly acknowledged on the opening track, “Goin' Back," and further underscored on Young's cover of Ian Tyson's "Four Strong Winds." The plaintive "Lotta Love" (featuring breakout guest vocalist Nicolette Larson) and the bluegrass-tinged "Human Highway" showcase Young's skills as a songwriter.
