A woman enjoying a packet of crisps on her lunch break was stunned to open it and find an entire potato inside.

Lucy Benyon opened the £1.20 bag of Greggs Sea Salt and Cider Vinegar crisps on her lunch break.

But the accounts manager, 34, was stunned when she peered inside while at her desk and spotted an entire potato.

Lucy said she burst out laughing with the rest of her office – and her boss was also left entertained by the discovery.

Despite it causing the office to be in hysterics, the smell and dampness of the bag was rather concerning.

She contacted Greggs customer service to inform them about the mystery spud.

Shewas offered a £15 voucher from the beloved bakery for the faulty bag of crisps which was bought at the Greggs at Bolton Gate retail park.

Lucy said: ‘Everyone has said ‘Luce it could only happen to you’ because I’m so fussy with food.

‘Genuinely didn’t suspect anything as I was rushing and it was pouring down. I opened the bag in front of my work colleagues who were just as surprised as me.

‘I was with my girlfriend at the time and ran to show her and my bosses who were hysterical. It was 100% inside and it was very soft, smelly and wet.

‘I’ve emailed Greggs who have confirmed my potato incident and I am waiting on a reply from them. A lifetime supply of crisps would be great.’

Greggs replied to her email and said: ‘Thanks for your patience whilst we’ve looked into this for you.

‘As a result of the evidence you provided, we believe this to be a piece of edible vegetable matter that would have come in with our ingredients.’
