Boris Becker has called out Nick Kyrgios for his social media post about Andrew Castle amid the feud between the two BBC stars at Wimbledon.

It all kicked off at SW19 last year when Kyrgios called Castle a ‘clown’ for his remarks during the Wimbledon final between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.

Kyrgios, who was a Wimbledon runner-up in 2022, then mocked Castle by laughing at his professional record before he became a broadcaster for the BBC.

Castle, in an exclusive interview with Metro.co.uk, brushed off Kyrgios’s criticisms at the start of this year’s Championships and branded him a clickbait ‘golden boy’ in response, calling him out for making easy observations while sat on his sofa.

It was thought the pair had squashed their beef, especially considering they are both working for the BBC this year, but Kyrgios recently took a fresh jab when he was angered by Castle’s commentary during a Taylor Fritz match.

Kyrgios has since tried to play down his beef with Castle – and after the duo covered Djokovic’s semi-final win over Lorenzo Musetti on Friday alongside John McEnroe – the Aussie bad boy posted on X: ‘Enjoyed being in the booth with Andrew Castle and Johnny Mac today!!!! Played off each other well.’

Becker, though, has now called Kyrgios out and replied: ‘Thought you didn’t like Andrew (to put it lightly…) Mac is obvious, since he is the best commentator in tennis.’

The German was a mainstay in the BBC’s coverage before his spell in prison and missed Wimbledon this year as he is unable to return to England until October 2024.

Becker served eight months of his two-and-a-half year sentence for hiding £2.5m of assets and loans to avoid paying his debts and was released in December 2022.

Kyrgios, meanwhile, picked up the BBC microphone for this year’s Championships after he was unable to play at the All England Club due to injury.

He was lauded by Novak Djokovic on Friday – with the pair hitting together in Wimbledon practice this year – and the Serbian has tipped Kyrgios to soon make a return to the ATP Tour.

‘I can tell you a few days ago when we practiced – actually [Thursday] I think it was when we practiced – he hit a really good serve, and he said, ‘Well, I might come back at the US Open’ – so I don’t know if he was joking about it or not!’ Djokovic said.

‘But let me tell you, he’s hitting the ball as good as ever really. He’s so talented. He’s so good with his tennis. I think he said that the wrist bothers him mostly with the serve, but he’s been increasing the load and the intensity and the speed. He’s not going for full pace or full-strength serve, but he’s close to that. He’s close to that.’
