Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence said his wife, the Princess Royal, is ‘recovering slowly’ as he left a Bristol hospital after visiting his wife.

After spending two-and-a-half hours with Princess Anne, he said ‘She’ll be out when she’s ready.’

She has been in the hospital for three nights now after falling at her property in Gloucestershire earlier this week.

The 73-year-old will miss several engagements this week, including the state banquet and an overseas tour to Canada, which was due to start this weekend.

Elsewhere, King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted the Japanese Emperor and Empress’ at Buckingham Palace last night.

The banquet held at Buckingham Palace also saw Charles reference Pokémon and Hello Kitty – two of Japan’s most famous pop culture exports.
